Viki's alter, Jean Randolph, sought to destroy The Banner by leaking its stories to Todd. |
After being startled to learn that he was the son of the late Victor Lord, with an enormous inheritance bestowed upon him, he set out to become an even bigger publishing tycoon than his biological father ever was. With Blair at his side, he bought the Intruder newspaper from Dorian, renamed it The Sun and began luring the best and brightest staff members away from The Banner. Todd and Blair were pleased with their first headline: "Cops Selling Guns To Kids In Angel Square." Kevin and Clint were left wondering how Todd got this big story before they did. They had no idea that Todd's inside source, his "deep throat," was none other than Viki, whose alternate personality "Jean Randolph" was leaking information to the enemy camp.
Embittered by Todd's newly found wealth from their father, Tina vindictively alerted Todd that Blair lied about being pregnant to get him to marry her. Todd later confronted Blair with a home pregnancy test. Though initially fearful that her charade was about to be exposed, Blair was relieved when it came back positive. In the time that they had been married, Blair had become pregnant with Todd's child.
Todd remained insecure over Blair's lingering interactions with former beau Cord Roberts. When he later overheard Addie remarking that Blair still loved Cord, an unnerved Todd blasted Blair, their marriage and unborn child. Hurt by his tirade, that evening Blair was later terrorized and mugged on the docks of East Llanview by Javier and Luis, two members of the Arrows gang. Sadly, she lost the baby. Young Cristian Vega, an artistic and bright teenager, happened upon Blair on the docks and he was unjustly charged, but later cleared of the crime.
As Todd and Blair struggled to move past the tragedy, Max confronted Todd with startling news: Blair was not really pregnant when she married Todd. An enraged Todd went wild and confronted her at the penthouse that they shared. With his anger raging, Todd nearly raped Blair, until she reminded him of what he did to Marty. Todd came to his senses and stopped. Nevertheless, the Manning marriage was over. Much to her surprise, Blair soon learned that she was pregnant with Todd's child—again.
During her confinement, Dorian came to see Viki's personality splinter into several other alters including: vengeful Tori, violent Tommy, and Princess, the little girl who was molested by her father. Most of the time though, cold and clinical Jean Randolph, "the gatekeeper," remained in control of Viki's psyche. Jean blackmailed Dorian into ending her affair with Joey as one of the conditions of her release.
