Megan was found guilty of murdering Michael Grande, but Roger killed him in her defense.

Upon Tina�s returning to Llanview that summer, Cord held firm to their marriage being over. Subsequently, she began a relationship with Johnny Dee. In the meantime, Bo and Sarah invited Cord and Megan to vacation with them on the Island of Badderly. There, the group was surprised to run into Tina and Johnny. Though they bickered non stop, Tina and Cord could not resist their passion and wound up making love on the island. Later, the group was forced to make a hasty escape as chaos erupted on the island, which was being infiltrated by Carlo Hesser and his thugs.

In the aftermath of the Badderly ordeal, Tina discovered she was pregnant, but didn�t know who the father (Johnny or Cord) was. Both men, meanwhile, asserted that he was father and regularly fought over Tina�s unborn baby. As time went on, Tina begrudgingly came to the conclusion that her child was Johnny�s. As she and Cord mended their fences, Cord pledged to raise the child as his own, even if Johnny was indeed the father. To Tina�s relief, amniocentesis revealed the father to be Cord.

When Johnny learned of the DNA results, he barged into Llanfair and demanded that Tina tell him that it was a lie and that he was the father. When Tina refused to humor him, Johnny knocked her unconscious. A still paralyzed Viki morphed into an able bodied Niki Smith, climbed the mansion stairs and shot Johnny dead just before he could make off with Tina. In the aftermath of his killing, Niki reverted back to a handicapped Viki, who had no memory of what transpired. As a result, Tina was charged with Johnny�s murder.

Johnny�s death stoked the flames of hatred for the Buchanan�s that burned in Carlo Hesser. He vowed to avenge his son�s death. A tape recording of the shooting revealed that Niki shot Johnny and that Gabrielle Holden was present at the crime scene. Carlo, learning that Viki/Niki killed his son, enlisted Gabrielle�s aid in exacting his revenge against the Buchanan�s. Gabrielle at first refused to ally herself with Carlo, but when he furnished a videotape of the married Gabrielle seducing Father Tony, she had no choice but to reluctantly comply with his demands.
