ACCOMMODATION AND LOCATION

The Firs

Accommodation for the course is in a building in the grounds of Pendarren House called The Firs, a large fully-equipped bungalow that has been converted for use by groups of up to 16 people, in shared rooms for between 2 and 4 people.

Food will be provided, ready to heat and serve, and cupboards and fridges will be equipped with necessary stores. Please inform us of any allergies, special food requirements, or health/medical issues.

If you want to do something different, there are local Bed and Breakfast facilities in the village of Llangenny, very close to The Firs. The approximate cost is £30 per night, and participants would need to make their own arrangements. Please email if you would like more information on this option and contact details of recommended establishments. If you choose this option, you will be eligible for non-residential course fees.

Location

The Firs is located close to the village of Llangenny not far from the A40 between Abergavenny and Brecon. It is about 30 minutes from the M4 at Newport and 40 minutes from the M50 at Ross on Wye, and is approximately 2½ hours drive from West London and under 2 hours from Birmingham by road.

The nearest railway station is Abergavenny (8 miles), approximately 2½ hours from London Paddington. Student collection from Abergavenny train station on the morning of 20th July can be arranged, as well as drop-offs on 25th July.

There are airports at Bristol and Cardiff with reasonable transport links to Newport. Airport coaches also run to Newport from most of the London airports. The coach station at Newport is in the front of the train station, making transfer very easy.
