Antique Pots

The beauty of a good Bonsai is greatly enhanced if it's displayed in a suitable Antique Pot. Purple sand found in Yixing China are specially used for the making of Bonsai Pots. Production started as early as Ming dynasty(1368-1644), reached a new high standard in the early and mid Qing dynasty(1644-1912). Purple sand is further divided into purple, red, cinnabar, crow, peach, blossom, persimmon, white and black clays.

Most of this special clays had been excessivly excavated for use in making Pots in the past. Owing to this depletion in material and the Chinese old masters' superior artistry in Pot creation, this items are now much treasured antiques for the antique collectors and the serious Bonsai hobbyists.
