Description
This course covers the skills necessary to create structured
Windows Applications. The class uses Visual Basic for design and
development. Topics covered will include Basic language syntax,
event driven programming, structured programming, most of the standard
Visual Basic tools, and use interface strategies. This course is
intended for a general audience with no prior programming experience.
Prerequisites
MATH 151 or equivalent; CSI/BOT 191C or equivalent.
Materials
Textbook: Programming in Visual Basic 6.0, by Julia Case Bradley
and Anita C Millspaugh, Irwin/McGraw-Hill, 1999. Chapters 1-11 (skip chapter 9).
Instructional Resources
You will be using a PC with a 3.5" disk drive. The computers are
located in room 6105. An instructional assistant will be available for
minor problems, not tutoring; please do not expect the assistant to
design or write your program. Program design and coding should be done
before you arrive at the computer. CS lab hours are from 9:00 am till
8:45 pm, Monday through Thursday, 9:00 am till 9:00 pm Friday, and from
10:00 am till 3:45 pm, Saturday. There is a tutoring center in Building
I room 1305.
