2005 Hummingbirds
HLC Website
2005 began as most years with one eye out the window during the month of March but finally on March 29th at 4:45pm I saw my first male of the season.  Boy was he a welcome sight!
A female showed up a little over a week later on April 6th.  During April, May and June they selected their favorite feeders and took up residence in my yard to begin their courtship and the raising of young.  I noticed 3 distinct batches of young visit the feeders during the 2005 season.

Usually the busiest time at the feeders has been August into September, but this year July was just as busy as Augsut and September.  Hubby got a new camera and enjoyed taking hundreds of photos of the hummers doing aerobics around the feeders. It was an amazing season.
Through David's pictures we were able to view things about hummingbirds that we had nver been able to see before, such as a male with a bill infection and eyelashes on a hummingbird.
