Work History

Freelance Web/Multimedia Developer Oct 2006 - Present

I am currently developing websites and multimedia applications for a number of small businesses and charity organisations. These website use such technologies as XHTML, CSS, Fireworks, Photoshop and Flash.

Learning Technologist: Durham University Oct 2005 - Sept 2006

This was a highly successful one year project with the aim of promoting and supporting the use of Computer Aided Assessment (CAA) throughout the university.

Application Developer: DuPont UK Mar 2002 - July 2004

My main role was to design, develop and maintain Lotus Notes databases for a global customer base.

Sales Assistant: Alldays Stores Limited July 2000 - Sept 2000

My main duty involved serving and assisting customers in a busy local convenience store.

Education

MPhil/PhD Computer Science: Oct 2005 - Present.

I am currently studying part time and researching into e-learning, multimedia and web 2.0 technologies at the University of Teesside.

MSc Multimedia Applications - Distinction: Sept 2004 - Sept 2005.

This course was completed at the University of Teesside. Modules were: Multimedia Design (A), Web Authoring and the Internet (A), Multimedia Technologies (A), Multimedia Project Management (A), Learning and Independent Study (B), Designing for Web Exploitation (A), Visual and Sound Effects (A) and Project and Dissertation (A). My Project title was 'How successful is Multimedia at teaching practical skills to adult learners'.

BA(Hons)Computer Studies - 2:1: Sept 1998 - June 2001.

This course was completed at the University of Sunderland. Modules covered included Database System Development, Web Development, Systems Development, Graphics, Systems Analysis and Design, HCI, Expert Systems, Artificial Intelligence and IT Project Management. My final project involved the creation of an Interactive Aikido Training package developed in Visual Basic, Microsoft Access and HTML. For this project i researched into Artificial Intelligence for teaching and Human Computer Interaction.
