| Different things work for different people. Atkins works well for some. Weight Watchers works best for me and a lot of others I know. The most important thing is not to starve yourself. Make sure you are consuming at least 1000 calories a day. And if you want to KEEP the weight off, make changes to your diet that you can live with. The list below is 10 simple steps to lose weight. The list originally comes from WebMD, I believe. I modified it a little. By following these steps, you WILL get great weight-loss results. Do one at a time. Do each for 3 weeks and it will become a habit. The key is to make small, simple changes that you can live with for LIFE. You will see the results. 1. Eat a healthy breakfast every single day. 2. Don't skip meals. 3. Get 30 minutes of exercise every day. 4. Don't DRINK your calories, EAT them! Switch to diet soda and unsweet tea (add Equal or another calorie free sweetner). Use 1 percent or skim milk in coffee and tea, and again, a sugar substitute. 5. Eat 5 servings of fruits and vegetables every day. Juices are high in sugar, so watch out for using juice as too many servings. 6. Carry healthy snacks with you to avoid getting hungry and turning to vending machine foods. 7. Eat out only once or twice a week. Bring lunch to work or school, and eat dinner at home. 8. Buy small amounts of different fruits and vegetables. Variety is key. 9. As soon as you come home from the grocery store, prepare your fruits and vegetables. Slice up the melon and cucumbers, wash the fruit, etc. You are much more likely to grab it for a snack if you don't have to prepare it. 10. FIBER. Makes you feel more full. Read the label and buy the products higher in fiber. Whole grain breads, whole wheat pastas and cereals, lots of vegetables. Aim for at least 10 grams per day to start. |
