Is Christ A Demiurge?

A Pagan's Reply to My 'Survey of Catholic Faith'

This page is part of my pages on Christianity vs. Paganism.

I mailed my 'Survey of the Catholic Faith' questionaire to several persons, all of them being persons whom I either knew to be Christian or claiming to be Christian, with the sole exception of one, a pagan or Hindu, a former coworker.

This exchange has been constructed into a separate page in order to showcase the Hindu pagan attitude towards Christian orthodoxy. Needless, perhaps, to add, his views are exactly that which coincide with the description of Christ Jesus as a Demigod or Demiurge.

At the bottom of my correspondence with my pagan former co-worker, I provide the Catholic response to the portrayal of Christ as a Demiurge.

Incidentally, it was a person who claims to be a Christian, as I had narrated in my 'Survey of the Catholic Faith' who has persistently claimed that Christ and Ganapati are equally demigods or Demiurges.

Dear Lucio,

Answers:

1.YES , All gods are one

2. YES, All religions lead souls to heaven (i.e., to salvation)

3. NO, I don'tb beleive that Christ and Ganapati are one.

4. Catholics OUGHT NOT to criticize pagan religions such as Hinduism and Mohammedanism since the followers of these religions can ask Catholics awkward and embarrassing questions to which we cannot give reasonable answers concerning Mother Mary's maternity of Jesus Christ, given her youth and unmarried state at the time of conceiving Christ Jesus.

Dear S.,

You are the only person who is officially a non-Christian whom I had sent my survey, and, by-and-large, your answers are as expected.

However, as you say, 'All gods are one', and since Christ the the God of the Christians, and Ganapati is a god according to the Hindus, why do you say that you do not believe that 'Christ and Ganapati are not one'? There is a contradiction here as I see it.

You will be aware that Advait or Vedantic Hinduism teaches that all lives (jivas, including the devas and asuras) are part of the same super-god or super-soul, Brahma-Atman or 'Universe-Soul', a teaching encapsulated in the phrase, "Tat tuam ast". This is also what "Sri Sri Ravi Shankar", the Guru of the 'Art of Living' sect teaches, when he says "I, you, Osama bin Laden... we are all one". Vedanta teaches that we are 'ignorant' of this 'truth' because of being under 'maya' or 'illusion', which we must overcome to realize that 'all lives are one' (See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advaita).

By the way, is it true, as I have been informed, that you are planning to become a Christian? Why?

Kind regards,

Lucio Mas.

Dear Lucio,

All Gods are one because the One who is above all of us can't be "TWO"> its always ONE and ONLY ONE who rules/guides the Universe. His Agents like Ganpati and Christ are given the responsibility to take care of sections of HIS (The ONE at the TOP) empire.

SO Basically speaking Ganpati and Christ are Care Takers of HIS empire.

We all are parts of HIM (the ONE and ONLY ONE above all in this Universe) and that is the reason why HE wants Ganpati and Christ (HIS Agents) to take care of his parts.

I appreciate your Strong Faith in Christianity and Christ. You should have faith on one who you believe help protects you in this big bad world.

However, I feel that you should come out of this (being BULL HEADED) nature (excuse my language) and see through the light that HE (whom none has seen but has felt the presence of) Created this world (you, me and all) and therefore we all are his masterpiece and he wants his kids (we all) to be taken care of and protected and therefore HE sent Ganpati and Christ (His agents) to take care of us because HE himself doesn't wants to take the credit for his creation.

I hope you understand.

Sorry for being rude in the first line.

Being Humane at the core of heart and Understanding HIM is all about faith and religion and I truly believe in this.

Nice to hear from you.

The Catholic Response
Christ IS One With God; Ganapati Is A Devil

Is Christ God, or is He merely a "demiurge" or "demigod", a lower being who represents the Supreme God?

The roots of Christ's claims go to the Old Testament, the Jewish Bible. The God of the Old Testament promised that He would sent a Messias to redeem and liberate the Jews and indeed all mankind from sin and slavery to Satan, that he would be born of the lineage of King St. David, and that he would arrive at a certain time, be slain for the sins of all men, be buried, and rise again from the dead.

And Jesus arrived under precisely these conditions, at the right time, of the right genealogy and lived out the very prophecies he was to have lived.

Christ Jesus, therefore, is very different from the Hindu "avartars" or "incarnations" who have none of them been prophesized.

Moreover, Christ Himself claimed to be God, identical with the God of Abraham, the God of the Jews, stating, "Before Abraham was, I AM!" St. John the Evangelist also clearly states that Christ Jesus is God, in the very first chapter of his Gospel (See http://www.drbo.org/chapter/50001.htm). Moreover, these are NOT the only passages that teach the Divinity of Christ Jesus, for the New Testament (and indeed, even the Old Testament) is replete with such statements.

In response to the various heretics that challenged the early Christianity, especially the Gnostics and Arians, Christianity devised the famous 'Athanasian Creed', which is the standard of the Catholic Faith, and which unequivocally insists on the identity of Christ with the God of the Old Testament and on His divinity (See The Athanasian Creed).

For a treatment on the question by the Catholic Encyclopedia, see http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/04707b.htm.

For passages from the Early Church Fathers in defense of the Divinity of Christ and against the blasphemies that He is merely a Demiurge or Demigod, see the Early Church Fathers on the subject.

I have collated some important texts from the Holy Bible, from the Church Fathers and from the Magisterium on the subject of Paganism (See here).

The two most important statements made by the Holy Bible are:
  1. King St. David of Israel, Psalm XCV, versicle 5: "For all the gods of the Gentiles are devils" (All the gods of the heathen are devils).

  2. St. Paul's First Epistle to the Corinthians, Chapter X, verse 20: " ...the things which the heathens sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God".
I have another page which explains the nature and origins of Paganism (See here).

These facts place Ganapati squarely and unequivocally as a demon, a false god, an oracle of Satan.

Here I rest my case.

Kind regards,
