Games. Barring an actual zombie apocolypse going down, these are the closest most of us will ever come to fighting off the legions of walking dead. While games like Resident Evil and House of the Dead have certainly blazed the trail for zombie killing fun, there are other games out there which come with a better price-tag . . . as in free. They may not be of the same high quality, but if one of these games provides even just 10 minutes of entertainment then you've already got more out of it than you put in.

DEAD DAYS This is an odd, little third person horror survival game. On a very, very low budget. Basically, you are this blocky little character trying to fight your way through a zombie infested city. It's kind of fun and at a little over 5 mb is a relatively quick download.

BRAINBREAD Ok, so this one is really only free if you already happen to own the best friggin game ever made (which is Half Life, of course). Brainbread is modification to Half Life that puts you smack dab in the middle of a zombie uprising. Its a multiplayer, online co-op humans vs zombies and is very addictive. Highly recommended.

URBAN DEAD Urban Dead is a free-to-play browser-based multi-player game where you play the survivor or victim of a zombie outbreak in a quarantined city centre, alongside tens of thousands of others.

DEAD AWAKEN Another browser-based MMORPG. Fight against players from all over the world in this massive multiplayer online game. Choose to ally with an angry mob of humans or an infectious horde of zombies to further help your survival during the apocalypse.

ZOMBIE SURVIVAL An aptly named Flash game. Armed with a shot gun and grenades, shoot and blast away these undead minion before they tear your head off. As you destroy the zombies you gain points which you can use later to heal yourself and get more grenades

AUTUMN WAR Another Flash game. You start off in an top down view and control your squads similiar to an RTS game. Once you come in contact with the zombies it switches to a side view where you can tell your squad to advance, fire, and retreat.

DUSK OF THE DEAD a crude yet fun game thats abandonware. It has not been finished but you still can play a few levels nonetheless. First person shooter.

DIVINE INTERVENTION A well made flash game that is a bit addictive. It's Judgement Day, the dead have risen, and this priest kicks ass for the Lord!

ZOMBIE PLAGUE This one is a little different. This is a downloadable board game in PDF format. You've got two options: you can play the humans, who are fast moving and can use weapons, or the zombies, who are slow but have much greater numbers.

ZOMBIE SMASHERS X A downloadable (5mb) side-scroller game where you beat down zombies in hand-to-hand combat.

ZOMBIE NIGHTMARE A downloadable turn-based zombie strategy game.

FLESH FEAST When you and a group of friends get trapped on a Caribbean island with no means if escape, it seems things can’t get much worse...

BIONIGHTMARE Bio Nightmare is a multiplayer game where survival is the goal. Slay zombies, grow your empire, build alliances with other players, and squash your opposition to rise to the top.

ZOMBIE PATROL This is a Flash-based, top-down zombie shooter. 'Nuff said.
