Everybody loves the links page
Jar-Jar Links
Here's how I spend my day at work
Books: This isn't a real link, just a list of really good books people should read. But I didn't have anyplance else to put it, so it goes here.
The Comics Journal: The closest thing the comics world has to an academic publication. Proving every month that the medium's more than just guys in their underwear hitting each other.
The Grudge Match: Years before celebrity Deathmatch, the Grudge Match was pitting celebrities and fictional characters against each other. The winner is determined by viewer voting, and huge sections get posted for viewer responses. They just posted stats, and I (in my Grudge Match alias Kilgore Trout) somehow became the all-time #3 respondant. Updated every two weeks.
Katrillion.com: News site for teenagers I'm obligated to mention since my brothers works there. It's a decent site, nonetheless.
The Onion: Greatest fake paper in Internet history. The AV section's cool as well; just as pretentious as the Village Voice, but you agree with them for a change. Updated every Wednesday.
Pop Image: Independent bunch of guys covering the comics world. They get a lot of good content. Updated biweekly.
Salon.com: Probably the best online magazine out there. Reporting on the stuff you want to read, the stuff you should read, and nothing else. Updated every day.
The Smoking Gun: God Bless the Freedom of Information Act. Nonstop public documents showcasing politicians, celebrities and other notables and the paper trails from their nefarious dealings. Updated often.
Wordplayer: A great site to learn how to write screenplays, as well as practical advice on getting them noticed.
Yesand.com: For improvisers, by improvisers. Check out the heavily used bulletin board, or check out the 500 Clown spotlight I wrote. I'm also Kilgore Trout on yesand.
Groups I exploit/get exploited by
Mixed Signals: The improv troupe I'm in. We're breaking all sorts of fire ordinances with attendance for our shows currently. Previously we've just broken God's laws on-stage, but we've got high hopes for this year. If you're looking for these people to ruin your next wedding, birthday or bar/bat mitzvah, go here.
Northern New Jersey Grotto: They take me caving, I schlep around with their newsletter for them.
Private Label: The undisputed king of all magazines covering the private label industry; also the people who sign my paychecks.
ABC Gerbils: My gerbil story got reprinted here. It's a family-friendly site, so they're scared to put a link back to me.
My Car Sucks: My Mercury Topaz story got reprinted here. Feel free to rant about your own suckmobile.
Weird weird weird
Acts of Gord: Who's worse, a condescending video game store owner, or the parade of stupids he sees?
Ask Jesus: Biblify any web page you want by running it through this page. Scare your friends.
Bush or Chimp?: Our nation's newest president, side by side with identically posed shots of chimps. Makes you want to hum the Battle Hymn of the Republic.
Dark Pasage: Imagine a mix of a scavenger hunt, munder mystery party, and general trespassing. I did one Dark Passage trip, and am looking forward to doing/helping to run a second one. E-mail them, and maybe you'll get an invite to the next one.
Movie Cliches: Exactly what you'd think the page would be.
Mullets Galore: The single most comprehensive site on mullets (a.k.a. hockey hair, a.k.a. Kentucky waterfall, a.k.a. Business in the front, party in the back, a.k.a. Canadian passport) currently on the web.
Friends
Note: if you are my friend and you're not up here, it's solely because I don't know you have a web page. Email me and I'll throw you in. Please hurry; it looks like I only have three friends right now.
Betsy Housten: Multi-cause activist and multi-colored head dyer.
Tim Johnston: Spider-man impersonater and nuclear war averter.
Jared Klett: Web designer and all around cool guy.
Brendan Ryan: everything you always wanted to know about my brother, insofar as it relates to movie posters.
