Melbourne is a dot. That's not a profound statement, it's a simple fact. This is a real cosmopolitan city that I love. But it's small enough that you can run into folks you know on the street. Try doing that in London, Paris or New York! Melbourne is a dot and I love it.

Here are some of the people (in no particular order) that have made it special:

L->R: Michelle, Ryan, Declan, Neil & I at Carl Cox @QBH the day before I went to Tassie

Saw the Wales/Canada Rugby ages back and the International Rules (compromise between Aussie Rules and Gaelic Football) game between Ireland and Australia. We all got dressed and painted up for that one... and I have photos:

Another biggie was Melbourne Cup day:

I'll always be Welsh, but in the Rugby final I supported the country I lived in for six or so years rather than the one I'd stayed in for less than two months!

The Aussies could try and bear in mind that it's only a game! The one that really got to me was the radio phone-in asking listeners to come up with something good about the English team... "They go back to England after two weeks unlike the rest of them" Ouch!

Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of cool people around too. And I'm seriously having the best time of my life here in Australia:
