Receivers

This is the part of the radio that picks up messages from another station. It is often abbreviated to RX

Antenna

Picks up the radio signal and converts it to an electrical signal.

Tuning and RF amplifier

One frequency out of the millions available is selected. The others are filtered out. The signal is then amplified.

Detector (demodulator)

The carrier wave is removed by a tuned circuit leaving only the audio wave (message)

Audio amplifier

The signal is made bigger so it will be possible to hear.

Loudspeaker

The electrical signal is converted to a sound wave.
