UNCLE GEORGE

The Smiths were a proud and accomplished family. They could trace their ancestors to the Mayflower, and had produced several politicians and corporate tycoons. For the sake of their desendents they decided to compose a family history, and hired a professional writer to put it all together. Everything was impressive except for this: how to handle Uncle George, the black sheep who was executed in the electric chair?

"Don't worry," the author assured them, I'll take care of it." And he did - the entry appeared this way: "Uncle George occupied a chair of applied electronics at an important government-funded institution. He was attached to his position, and his death came as a great shock."
