Monadnocks Campsite

June, 2000

The Bibbulmun Track walk to the Monadnocks Campsite is one of my favourites, as it must be for many others because there are usually many people on this part of the Bibbulmun Track.  The walk starts at Sullivan's Rock picnic site, on the Albany Highway and about 33 kilometers from where the Albany Highway turns out of Armadale. From there you walk across Albany Highway to Sullivan's rock, then climb and descend Mt Vincent and Mt Cuthbert. Many people get dropped off at Randall Rd or Coglan Rd and walk the Bibbulmun Track to Sullivan's Rock, passing Monadnocks Campsite, Mount Cuthbert, Mount Vincent and Sullivan's Rock on the way..

Upper Left: Sullivan's Rock is not part of the Bibbulmun Trak, it branches off here where Luke is posing for a photo. Luke was one of 20 people who hired a bus to drop them off at Randall Road and pick them up at Sullivan's Rock picnic site.
Top: Some of the many people walking down Mt Vincent. Some old ladies amongst them must have been in their 60's. Sullivan's Rock is worth a visit on its own, if just to see the galloping lizards there.

Botton Left: View of Mt Vincent from Sullivan's Rock..

Bottom Centre; A view from Mt Vincent, nothing but bush for as far as the eye can see.
Bottom Right: The cairn on top of Mt Vincent. The idea is that you bring your own rock from the bottom, to add to the cairn. The further that you bring the rock and the heavier it is the more glory to you.
Right: A couple of campers who stayed the night at Monadnocks Campsite and who hopefully will get picked up at Sullivan's Rock picnic site.

Top left: View of Mt Cuthbert from Mt Vincent. Mt Dale can be seen in the far distant. Top right: View from Mt Cuthbert, after the sun had set, not a clever place and time to be with no torch or bright moon. Below left: View from Mt Cuthbert towards Mt Dale. Below right: The cairn on top of Mt Cuthbert.

Left and right: The Monadnocks Campsite, the only campsite with internal plumbing.
