| 8 year old Maddie Clifton was killed by her 14 year old neighbor, Josh Phillips on November 3, 1998. He then hid her under his water bed. He hit her over the head with a baseball bat and stabbed her to death. Then, he went out and helped search for her. A few weeks later, his mother smelled something awful coming from his room and went to investigate. She lifted up the frame and saw Maddie's little feet and ran screaming from the room. She ran all the way to the police department and when they arrived all she could do was point at her son's room. Maddie's funeral was held a few days later and Josh Phillips was charged with the murder of his 8 year old friend. Maddie left behind a her mother, father, and older sister Jessica. The rosary was a gift to Maddie's mother from a women in Texas. She carries it around, it is never out of her reach, in Maddie's pink change purse. The plaque is from Maddie's memorial playground, at her school, San Jose Catholic School. |
