| Laura Smither went for an early morning jog on the morning of April 3 near her home in Friendswood, Texas. It was just a few weeks before her 13 birthday. She would never return. On April 21, her disembered body was found in Pasedena, 20 miles from her home. Today, in her memory, stands the Laura Recovery Center, as well as a memorial scholorship. The Laura Recovery Center has hellped in many searches, the most recent being that of 7 year old Danielle van Dam, whose body was found on February 28, 2002, by Laura Recovery volunteers.
