| Clever Girl... >> Friends >> The List >> No Doubt From: Rachel Subject: No Doubt kick ass! Yeah man, yeah. Rock on. So yeah... Andrew and I went on a pilgrimage to the Hordern Pavillian for the No Doubt concert tonight. All the way, a certain male of my acquaintance complained "It's going to be full of girls, 16 year old girls... I'm going to be the only guy there!" Upon our arrival, I pointed out the number of guys present and he said: "Yeah, but they're all with ugly, badly dressed girls!" Rachel: Excuse me!!! Andrew: But you're not badly dressed! Rachel: gee... thanks. I bought a sassy No Doubt tshirt, which you will hopefully all get to see me in tomorrow - it's pink! ;) We went inside, watched Area 7 - they were quite good, but I'm not familiar with their material, so... During the intermission, Andrew and I edged closer and closer to the stage, surreptitiously moving in front of those irritating 6'2" (sorry Brendy! :p) giants. After what seemed like a life time No Doubt finally came on. And the violence began. I was thrown this way and that, separated from Andrew, I had guys thrusting, yes, I'll repeat that for you, THRUSTING at me from behind. it was all too much. I was hear to enjoy the music. It would be nice to be close to Gwen Stefani and sing along with her but... if I was to enjoy the music rather than concentrating primarily on staying upright... I would have to move back. So I did, to the middle of the mosh pit, where I could actually BREATHE (a little ;)) but still jump around and act like an idiot. They played all of my favourite four songs, which was pleasing, although I was a little disappointed by the omission of 'Tragic Kingdom', 'Too Late', 'Comforting Lie' and 'Suspension Without Suspense'. However, they DID play these songs: 1. Ex-girlfriend 2. Sunday Morning (my favourite !! :)) 3. Bathwater (another favourite - Andrew claims that Gwen Stefani pointed at him when she sang "You're my kinda man!".. Um yeah, raise your hand if you believe him. I thought as much) 4. Different People (never been too fond of this song) 5. Magic's In The Makeup 6. Just A Girl (another favourite) 7. Simple Kind Of Life 8. Artificial Sweetner (yet ANOTHER favourite!) 9. End It On This 10. New 11. Staring Problem (I don't like this song much on the CD, but it was pretty cool live. And, like Gwen says, it IS a song all girls can understand.) 12. Home Now (THE song of Kate and Eric ;)) 13. Excuse Me Mr (I liked screaming "Fuck you Mr!" That was fun ;)) 14. Don't Speak ENCORE 15. some song I don't know (I think it was from their first album) 16. Spiderwebs So, anyhow, the songs were all very cool and I had a lot of fun. Despite the incredible heat and dehydration. ;) I kid you not, there was a guy standing next to me smoking pot. I don't like the smell of pot. One thing I noticed was the male dominance in a seemingly female dominated atmosphere. Despite the ratio of males to females, it was the males who pushed everyone over, who felt people up, and who did the majority of the crowd surfing. Some females (some even wearing SKIRTS!) were brave enough to try it, but I was not one. I'm haunted by Courtney Love's quote about how she always felt like she was being raped when she crowd surfed, as opposed to Kurt, who was treated like a hero. I actually thought I saw Andrew crowdsurfing at one stage, but it turns out there was more than one brunette in ugly shoes present. ;) COINCIDENCE - my ticket number was 1219, or December 19th. Kat's birthday! Those 19s really DO pop up everywhere!!! Anyhow, by the time the concert finished I was deluded by dehydration. Yes, so deluded that I lent Andrew $20 to buy himself a Tshirt and bought him a drink (yes, I know you buy ME things all the time but I don't have as much money as you do). Apparently Andrew looked down Gwen Stefani's top. Apparently this was a pleasurable experience. Not because she had great tits, but because she was famous... and also because she apparently has "the vibe". Interesting that this comes from someone who claimed earlier in the evening that Gwen Stefani was "not the sort of person guys get crushes on". Well - guess who has a crush on her now??? lolol Lotsa love, Blondie back |
