From: Menike Subject: a night to remember hmm, Jessica Hogan, may I call you j-ho? :) speaking of hos, yesterday was the big night: the taj dance party... i arrived at about 11:00 cause i was at shui's birthday party at the don quixote spanish restaurant. (the food was fantastic and they had flamenco and sangria, but that's not what you want to hear about) so, I get there, and finally find Anujar (who's looking fantastic as per usual, wearing the new top she bought on Carmen's birthday) and we go and join the circle where all the people we know are dancing... its r&b at this time, so not much room for saru to strut her stuff, and she's looking at awkward, but sharmilla (whom some of you have met) was workin' it real well on the dancefloor... she's the best dancer I know (sorry carmen, you're very good but sharmilla is extraordinary) and i guess that because she's got all the moves, these guys kept coming up to her, all night, introducing themselves and trying to get a piece of the action... she was fighting them off all night! meanwhile, saru is strtuggling with the lack of male attention, so she starts to try a little too hard... it got preety ugly... and her dress wasn't as "slutty/slinky" as she told us it would be... actually, I thought she was looking preeeeeeeety ordinary for such a hyped event, but i came into the picture late, and i'm told she looked smashing before this... but, saru did manage to get lucky... somehow, during the time anuja and i abandoned the dancefloor to the banghra madness, she ended up on the platform, grooving away w/ none other than praveen (one of her "guy friends") and there she stayed for the rest of the night... so, fed up w/ banghra (and saru), anuja and i headed toward the smaller dancefloor, where they were playing proper dance music, and we were happy there, for a time... and then the sleeziness started... first this guy from anuja's work (ugly and about 30) came up to her, followed closely by this other guy... they started dancing with us.. then this other guy started getting sleezy... he started sort of edging closer to me and then tried to put his hand on my hip - UGH! so i pushed him away, and he fucked off... meanwhile, this other complete stranger came up behind anuja and started dancing behind her, a little too close for comfort... i saw this, and gestured to her to elbow him in the ribs... but she handled it with a touch for grace than that, moving off to the side to avoid him... after a total of 2 songs on that floor, anuja and i left the hall of sleeze, in favour of banghra... as well as that, there were two more sleezy and disturbing encounter we had. one, where this really big guy fell on me from behind... sharmilla practically dragged me out from under him... and the other where nav (christina noris's formal date) danced w/ anuja and apparently tried to lift her up... also, remember my shiney yellow bad that i bought from paddies? the strap broke... but you know, despite all this, i had fun... there was amature breakdancing to michael jackson at the4 end, and dancing's fun, I like it, even to r&b (i wouldn't go so far as to say the same for banghra though) and saru's antics were amusing as we knew they would be... and she seems to have scored a hit w/ praveen, so things should be interesting on tuesday :) anyway, that's pretty much all, and no doubt, most of u are thankful chao menike back |
