Philosophy

Children have the right to respect, value, kindness, honesty and choice/power. Quality childcare gives a positive, long-lasting benefit to the child and the family.

"Learning through play" is an excellent philosophy that encourages learning. Children learn best by interacting with their environment, through experimenting, singing, measuring, talking, tasting, painting, dancing, etc.

Every child is inherently worthy of love. Behavioral strategies include: positive reinforcement, clear boundaries, immediate consequences, following through, and starting each day fresh and new.

Cooperation, respect for others, kindness and communication are emphasized. No violent toys or war toys are at Little Bears Daycare.

Curriculum Areas and Child Development

Curriculum areas include art, computer class, music, pre-reading, pre- math, science and social studies. Attention is given to the whole development of the child: emotional, intellectual, physical, and social. There is a semi-structured environment with an emphasis on fun, play and learning.

Activities and Circle Time themes include: identifying and playing musical instruments, life cycles of plants and animals, family relationships, body awareness, earth awareness (recycling, composting, gardening), community helpers, safety (being lost, seat belts, poisons), and many more. In addition to art and cooking projects, and games.

The Facility

Ratio: Low child teacher ratio.

There are four classrooms, including a full sized gym, exclusively for the daycare. The rooms are divided into areas for for the different age groups. Each classroom is broken up into different play areas, such as house-keeping, blocks/puzzles, art/books, listening, dancing and playing music.

Little Bears Day Care has child-sized tables and chairs for snacks, breakfast and lunches. We provide breakfast and two snacks (one in the morning, the other in the afternoon). Lunch is provided by the parent or guardian. We have a refrigerator and microwave are available.

The outside play area is exclusively for the daycare; In addition we take frequent trips to the local park. Permission slips signed by the parent or legal guardian are required for ALL field trips, including the park.

We are licensed to enroll children 2 1/2 years old and up. Our hours of operation are 7am-6pm Monday - Friday. We have full and part time programs; Before and after school care and a summer camp program.
