Disclaimer: I don't own CCS, Clamp does. Don't sue! Um, this story has Silver Star and Fiery as substitutes for Yue and Kero. I never stole any ideas from the stories of Pern.
Mystical Ying and Yang
Prologue: The Legend
There's a prophecy around these parts, of a necklace, which held unnatural powers. Lyornes, the creator of the necklace was an elfin lord, bent on the peace of the land, Meili. His world was a beautiful land, unearthly in it's own way. For the land was a host to many of our supposedly legendary creatures.
Griffins, dragons, phoenixes, pixies, fairies and many other creatures lived in Meili but despite all of their bizarre natures, the land was unscarred and peace ruled. The necklace was the key to this all. But one day, a dark evil from another neighbouring land invaded Meili. Since war was a thing that never happened in Meili, the residents were scattered and so the land was separated. Time passed and through a long period of time, Lord Lyornes won over the darkness.
But as the people celebrated and the creatures rejoiced, Lyornes health failed him. Before he died, he had gathered his strength and cut the necklace in two separate pieces with there own different bands. Cut in a curve, the two necklaces represented Ying and Yang. One was black with one white dot, one white with one black dot.
Knowing that the Meili would never be the same until a century had passed, he sent out his two favourite phoenixes to protect the necklaces until the chosen bearers had been born. Letting the two depart into separate regions of the land, he stood in his spell room. Creating two dragons eggs, he sent them up to heaven until the selected time. Lying back in bed, he summoned his scribes asking them to take note of his last words.
In darkness and a time of despair
Fear and war will scar my land
Creatures will fade while
Men will establish clans
Become leaderless as a nation
But in a century's time
Two will be born
One a girl as pure as light it self
While the other a boy of darkness and hatred
Bond together to once again create Meili
To become a promised land
After Lord Lyornes died, the last of his kind with no heirs so Meili became a leaderless land, fights started and almost all of the mythical creatures hid. It took many years before the people all settled into clans and kept away from others. Clans would fight, territory would be lost and won, and many of the clans reveal the lost animals and recruited them for their own uses. Dragons, griffins and winged horses were mainly what were around but some clans had oddities.

THE LEGEND OF THE YING YANG NECKLACE
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
As a century passed, the night was bathed in an unnatural light, ten times stronger that the moon. Fujitaka paced up and down the verandah until he looked up at the night sky. Passing the sky slowly was a brilliant shooting star, the biggest that anyone had seen before. Then completely forgetting the shooting star, he went inside once he heard the news. His wife, Nadeshiko Kinomoto had been pregnant and that night she had started the contractions. As the night had moved on, Fujitaka and his son, Touya had paced the corridors and the verandah until Touya decided to go to the caves to tend to his steed, Silhouette Sky. Now Fujitaka entered the room where his wife laid, a bundle of cloth in her arms.
Seeing his wife asleep and exhausted, he looked at the child and saw a girl. " Sakura, for the cherry blossoms that fall on this summer evening," he named the child. Leaving the room to report the news to his clan, he first headed to his golden mount, Golden Fire.
Upon talking to his wise friend, he had questioned him about when Sakura would receive her own dragonet. "You must not let her choose one, for it will come to her at the age of ten," Golden Fire rumbled in Fujitaka's mind. Thanking his friend, he moved on to the council.

Ten years later
Sakura Kinomoto ran from the hatching sands, sobbing. It had been her dream to become a dragon rider like her brother since the first time she had seen her mother climb aboard her blue dragon, Sapphire Moon. That day, she had stood at the hatching sands waiting for some call that would say she had her own dragonet. But as all the eggs had called other children, she fled outside. Being a daughter to the leader of her clan, she was supposed to have a hatchling of her own.
Sitting down at the lake's edge, she was the only one to see a brilliant blaze in the sky. Approaching her, it landed in her lap and dropped something in her hand. Looking down, she saw a dragon egg. Seeing it hatch, amazement lit up her face when she heard a small voice sound in her head. A small silver dragonet crept out of its confining space and onto her hand. " Hello, my name's Silver Star and I am extremely hungry. You wouldn't happen to anything to eat with you?" Smiling, she ran inside to the caves.
Running through the corridors to the assembly room, she saw the whole clan congratulating the new dragons. Sakura then saw her father and brother at the front. Totally forgetting about the clan, her happiness pushed her to run to them. As she came near, she saw a look of shock on her brother and father's faces. In fact, the whole room had gone completely silent.
"What?" Sakura questioned her father.
"I'm the only silver dragon any of these people have seen. Also Fiery here is a phoenix. A legendary bird in these parts. Now can I have some food?" asked Silver Star in Sakura's head.
Totally forgetting about the blaze of fire she had seen at the start, she looked at her shoulder. A bird completely covered in flames was perched on her shoulder. She was glad that it didn't burn her. Turning to her father once again, she said, " Daddy, Silver Star here wants some food. And I think Fiery wants some food too." Speechless, her father led her to the storeroom.
