Sung From The Heart
Chapter 16: Onii -chan!!
The weeklong excursion had passed. Syaoran had only told Eriol, because the reincarnation had been over to Hong Kong many times to visit. Sakura and him were together still but she had no notion that there was something up.
It was Saturday and the gang had decided to have a picnic by the lake. They were to meet all at Tomoyo's house and some drivers were taking them there.
Sakura was dashing around the house as normal. Whipping round, vigorously brushing her damp tresses as she grabbed her clothes as she came out of the shower in a dash.
"KEROOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! I'm late!!!!!" came the familiar cry.
The poor guardian was still lying at the base of the wall, immobile since she chucked him instead of the beep-beeping alarm clock. She had flung him with amazing strength while she was asleep but finally awoke when the maddening beeping continued.
Now, grabbing a few items off her dressing table, she ran back and forth between her room and the bathroom. Luckily, Syaoran was picking her up and Touya and her dad were away for excavation lectures.
'Hurry, hurry hurry'she though, stopping to a standstill as the doorbell rang downstairs.
"Coming!" she yelled, her feet pitter-pattered down the stairs. Stopping for a second, she reflected what would have happened if Touya had been here.
'Oh look The kaijuu is finally up! She sounds like a herd of rampaging elephants coming down the stair,' would probably be his usual answer as she'd come down the stairs. She would get upset, stop in front of him a give him a nice stomp on his toes.
Smiling happily, she went towards the door, unlocked it and grinned as she saw who was here.
"Syaoran! Come in!" before rushing again through the house this time grabbing the pre-packed picnic basket that she had filled late last night.
Smiling shyly, Syaoran watched her zoom through the house, and grabbed her as she nearly ended on the floor thanks to an ill-placed book. She smiled, gave him a quick kiss on the cheek and returned to rushing around.
Finally, she was ready, dressing in a cute short white skirt with a pink chequered top, her hair tied up in messy bun and the picnic basket in her arms and white tennis shoes. Grinning cutely, head cocked on one side, she asked.
"Are we going yet Syaoran? Or are you going to stare at me the whole day?" she teased, smiling when she saw the blush that appeared on his handsome face.
He happily grabbed the picnic basket from her, and was just going to peek at what she had made when she quickly slapped the lid down.
"Awwww" he whined, pouting cutely and giving her his puppy-eyes. Chuckling, she laughed grabbing onto his arm and pulled him out of the house and locking it behind them.
She turned to see Syaoran, who had the car door open, beckoning her to go in.
"My lady" he said, bowing a deep courtier's bow and escorting her to the car seat of the Porsche.
"Good sir" she answered, sitting down primly, going along with his little act.
He got in, started the car and they finally drove away.

"Gosh!"
"Gee Tomoyo, where in the world is this?"
"It's so kirei!!"
Few voices rang out, over the placid blue lake's surface. The place was all to their group and it was simply divine to have a whole park to themselves. It was late autumn and most of the trees' leaves were falling. Great piles of dry and brittle leaves, piled up unbelievingly high, were seen all through the place.
The group's picnic people included Tomoyo, Eriol, Chiharu, Yamazaki, Sakura, Syaoran, Rika and Naoko. Everyone had a basket, except for Yamazaki and Naoko. But there was plenty to share around and delicacies were hidden in the pockets of the food-filled baskets.
Tomoyo, who had already dismissed the escorts, ensuring she'd call them when they wanted to return, led them all to the best picnic spot. It was an amazing view, for she took them high on a natural platform that overlooked a part of the blue lake. It was a brilliant clear day, not too hot either.
They all settled down, placing all the food in a neat order. Eriol, deciding that no one else could be trusted to take care of the food, shooed everyone out of the clearing while he sort of got the food out and started to arrange it.
Sakura and Syaoran were walking hand in hand on the edge of the lake, Syaoran just pleased to be by his beloved's side and Sakura contented to place her head on his shoulder.
Yamazaki and Chiharu were unfortunately snogging in a tree, oblivious to the fact that Tomoyo was grinning as she taped them from a bush.
Rika and Naoko were discussing the latest scary movie films that were in town while playing notches and crosses in the sand.
As they all got together for a round of hide and seek, they had to stop, as a clear bell rang through the air. Rushing back to the clearing, running back like 6 year olds, they puffed and sat down to the wondrous spread that Eriol had organized.
Jellies, buns, sweetmeats, sandwiches, salads and tons of other assortments were piled on the picnic blanket. Everyone tucked in and the couples readily fed each other little pieces of food.
"Open wide Sakura," Syaoran said, popping a piece of sweetmeat in her mouth.
She obligingly opened her soft mouth as he placed it in and she gave him a kiss on the cheek.
All of them were chatting admirably, for the rest of the afternoon.
~*~
"Sakura, Syaoran, Mother's men are coming soon," called Tomoyo as she helped pack up the baskets' remains.
Syaoran nodded, clasping Sakura's hand and slowly dragged her to a secluded spot.
"Syaoran?" she asked, puzzled.
He looked at his feet while holding both of her hands.
"Sakura, I have to leave Japan and go back to Hong Kong, do you want to come with me?" he pleaded, a edge of despair in his voice.
"It's.. so sudden I don't know what to say," was all she could utter.
He let go of her hands, turned to go, but a gentle hand rested on his shoulder, stopping him.
"Syaoran, I love you it's just so sudden, I need time to think," she cried, holding onto his arm.
He embraced her, his head buried in her sweet-smelling hair, a burden that had been hanging over his for the past week, lessened.
He then brought her back to the leaving group that were waiting for them next to the cars.

On the way home, Sakura was distracted, only half aware of Syaoran's warm hand in her's, caressing her skin and of the soft discussions around her.
Worried eyes regarded her, Tomoyo's, Syaoran's and Eriol's were glancing at her once so every often. The car would stop occasionally, dropping the various occupants off at different stops.
Chiharu left, with Yamazaki as she tugged him into her house. Naoko was dropped off at the library, as she had a part-time job there and Rika dropped off at her cousin's house as her parents were out of town.
When it was Sakura's turn, Syaoran got out with her.
"Aren't you coming with us Syaoran?" Tomoyo enquired, the worry for her friends showed on her face.
"Nah, I can always walk home from here, it's not that far and anyway, I want to stay with Sakura for a while," he replied, closing the door of the car.
He quietly followed Sakura as she entered the house, where her oppressing big brother was sitting on the couch, glaring at him as he slowly got up.
"Where have you been?" he asked, his voice calmingly fake with all the suppressed anger.
"I went out with a few friends, Tomoyo, Eriol, Syaoran and a few others," said Sakura, wondering why Touya was being so angry.
"Why didn't you tell us?" he said, grinding his teeth.
"I did!"
"No you didn't!"
"Yes I did! It's on the fridge door!" she answered glaring at her big brother, stomped into the kitchen and ripped off her pink sticky note from the fridge and stuck it on his forehead.
He ripped it from his brow, took a quick glance and huffed.
Syaoran, a spectator, like Yukito who had been in the kitchen eating cherry tarts, and Fujitaka who was cooking something for Yukito, was completely used to all of this. He sided in the kitchen, greeted Yukito and Fujitaka and took one of the disappearing tarts that were going down Yuki's throat.
Finally after Sakura and Touya had finished glaring heatedly at each other, Sakura turned to Fujitaka, and announced something.
"Otou-san Can I go to Hong Kong with Syaoran?" for she had made her mind up that she wanted to go. Heavens, she hadn't even met Syaoran's sisters or mother before.
"NO!!" was Touya's reply, suddenly glaring at the 'Chinese brat'.
She calmly walked up to her glaring brother, gave a quick smile and quietly stomped on his vulnerable foot.
"Owwwww!!!!"
"Now, now Touya, it's my choice if your imoto goes to China," Fujitaka told Touya.
"Otou-san, remember the family's history!"
"I know, I know," Fujitaka said, looking away.
"I have to say that"
Chapter 17! Go, go, go!
Author's Notes: Hahahahahaha!!!! I have a lovely cliffhanger!!! I am sooo happy that I got 100+ reviews that I decided to give you a bit of the ending. Do you want it?
Well here it is.
*-*
Alone in a little clearing, next to a clear bubbling stream, a pedestal stands, that spot bathed in light. The nightingale calls every so often.
Inscribed on it were delicate Chinese words, done twice more, one in Japanese and the other in English.
"What is love"
*-*
And yeah, well that's just some of it. But it's right at the end. So it will still be in a few chapters' time. But for now, sayonara and mata ne!!!
