by Lena Austin Cerridwen Press Paranormal Historical http://www.cerridwenpress.com/Index.asp Reviewed by Silver Minx Rating: 5 Nymphs GOLDEN BLUSH Senmut is a royal scribe called to attend on his childhood friend Hati who is about to become a Gods Wife. He is the only real man she can trust not to mess with her, as others may not realize her rank and she cant practice her seducing charms on her eunuch guards. The child-hood friends renew their relationship and Senmut becomes an important advisor to both the Divine One, Tutmose, and his most favored wife Hati. He realizes that the love he feels for Hati can not be returned and yet he is a noble friend anyway. Hatis relationship with her new husband Mo, The Devine Pharaoh, is wonderful as she is the first of his wives to love him as a man and not just as the important position he holds. Hati also maintains interesting relationships with the other wives, showing just how a polygamous family unit can work. When tragedy strikes, Hati must pull together the remaining family members to ensure her sons future, and stop the wrong man from becoming Pharaoh. Ive been a fan of Lena Austins for a year now and have all of her books. I can honestly say that THE GODS WIFE is the best book she has ever written. The atmosphere and setting of Ancient Egypt is captured with stunning simplicity making the reader feel as if they have gone back in time. The characters were very well drawn, and I fell in love with them so much that I literally cried several times when bad things happened to them. The writing is a step up from anything Ms. Austin has previously released, showing that she is indeed ready for the big time. The emotions the characters experience jump out of the page so that the reader feels as if they are on a roller coaster ride of happiness, grief, anger and joy. I highly recommend THE GODS WIFE and am giving it my first ever GOLDEN BLUSH award. Lena Austin just keeps getting better and I cant wait to see what she delivers next |
