This is what many of the 500 runners were looking for on Fathers
Day, 2000 - the finish line at Lismore's Southern Cross University.
The event consisted of 13 categories with trophies for all winners,
also a prize for the best dressed on the day in a "Heroes & Heroines"
theme. Two courses were available, 3km or 6km.
It was an event where the first and last to finish were winners -
there were no losers. Left: Rebecca Morgans and Glen Curtis, winners of the open
6km division. Right: Andrew Rigby 'crossing the line' with members of his
family. Andrew won the 'Differently Able' division.
The 'other side' of the morning had a
bit of everything including awards presentation, massages (mandatory
for some), live music performed by the Happy Hour band,
entertainment, face painting and a free sausage sizzle courtesy of
the Rotary Club of Lismore West.
The event was organised by the Southern Cross University School of
Exercise Science & Sports Management with all proceeds going to the
NSW Cancer Council.
