2007-01-02 - Group Drawings
Don't worry if you don't understand this blog entry. I don't completely understand it myself.
These are group drawings that Phil, Erich and I created back in 12th grade. Mostly they were drawn in study halls (at least my contributions were...) and we would pass them off to each other at lunch and in the hallways. We made more than the six I have here, but we lost them, which is unfortunate. I really wish that I had the very first one which involved a '57 Chevy sitting in the bottom of a skateboard half-pipe, a swarm of futuristic fighter jets overhead, and a tank commander ordering a squirrel to "get off my tank!"
There are three things that we tried to incorporate into each drawing:
1998-09-02 - This drawing is able to be turned around and viewed the other way up. I believe that it started with Erich's conveyer belts at the middle of the left side. Other highlights are my heavily modified B-52, and Phil's motorcycle which somehow got turned into a tank.
1998-09-16 - I don't exactly know but I believe that this one started with a McDonald's "McWorld" take-off, which I think Erich drew. This drawing contained the one and only contribution from Erica D.: a small rainbow on the left edge which became part of a sea serpent. Other highlights include the iceberg in the Coke glass, the chess light district, and BatSpoon.
1998-11-30 - I think this one started as a hockey arena, complete with overhead TVs. By this time we had absolutely no hesitation about altering each other's ideas. This drawing contained the one and only contribution from Don W.: the evil clown face, next to Bob the Tamato-yo-yo. It also contained the one and only contribution from Chris B.: himself jumping over hurdles near the bottom. Other highlights include the Millenium Falcon/Deep Space Nine/Saturn/Pac Man amalgamation, Phil running from the dental surgeon, and the Super Mario Bros. 1 game.
1998-12-15 - I have no idea how this one started. It did use Mr. Bacon's American Flag and Star stamps from Chemistry II. Other highlights include the prow of the ocean liner becoming a prison fence, MacGuyver on a desert "eye"land, and the metal rulers from art class..."whoopee!"
1999-02-11 - This one probably started with one of those straws. It also contains the one and only contribution from Natalie T.: a comment on why the hang glider was coughing. Other highlights include two Francis Schaeffers (one of which is a centaur), a BatCentaur, and Mr. Bacon's flag stamp being planted on the sands of Iwo Jima.
Narnia Studies
This series was done on computer using MS Paint and Adobe Photoshop. All coloring and composition was done with the airbrush tool in Paint, and Photoshop was used to create the brushstroke effect. They were intended to be studies for actual paintings I wanted to do, but I don't know when I'll find the time for that.
