APPEARANCE: Vanessa is 5'7" and about 135 lbs. She has long dark brown hair that reaches to about the middle of her back which she sometimes likes to streak with blonde, red, or black. Her eyes are dark brown, almost black, unless she's using her Serpentis skill, in which case they're yellow and slitted like a snake's. She's very attractive in a seductive, exotic way.

Her normal attire is something from her country-- usually a white peasant shirt with a belted peasant skirt dyed in blues and blacks to honor the two loas she worships. However, now that she has all the money she could ever need by being a Sabbat in New York, she's taken to keeping up on the latest fashion, and has a stock of sexy city-clothes and evening wear to help her fit in when doing any of the Pack's various missions. This naturally lead her to choose to "masquerade" as a Toreador when assigned to infiltrate the Camarilla.

ROLE-PLAYING: Vanessa is a sadist, and as such, she thrives on watching people being tortured, killed, or giving people pain, herself. Her favorite game is to hypnotize her victim-- usually a young, attractive man, but not always-- into revealing their greatest desire, and then giving it to them in such an abundance that it tortures and/or kills them. Her pack-mate Nero is one of the finest, most-creative artists at torturing and mutilating his victims, and being that Vanessa is also a voyeur, she's taken up the job of video-taping Nero at work, and derives great pleasure from this!

Vanessa is also a dedicated follower of Voudou...not so much because she's a religious-freak, but because she's addicted to the powerful rush of being ridden by one of the loas she worships, and loves thinking of many creative ways to perform the rite of sacrifice. The most-common way is to bring the victim to her room, perform the pleasure-torture on them (depending on what their pleasure is decides whether or not she'll do it, or if she'll need help from the pack-ghoul Armande), and then when they're hanging onto consciousness (she'll knock them out, drug them, or mesmerize them if she decides not to give them the pleasure-torture), she'll set up her magic-circle around them. At her signal, Armande will start playing the conga drums, and Vanessa will begin to dance and chant until she's being ridden by one of the loas, and then the loa will dictate what will happen to the victim before they're sucked dry or sacrificed. Vanessa must perform this rite every Thursday or Saturday if she wants to keep maximum favor with her loas, which she does.

HISTORY: Vanessa doesn't remember having parents or a family. She was one of the many children of the street-- street-rats-- who ran wild in the capital city of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. She was called by many names until she was a teenager and heard the name "Vanessa." It sounded like a powerful, sexy name to her, and she immediately adopted it as her own.
All the children flocked around a kind older lady who would heal them when they were sick, give them food when they were hungry, and give them shelter when it rained. She said her name was Rosa Negra, which was fitting since they only saw her around at night. No matter what hour during the day that they came asking for her, her housekeeper Benita always said she was resting, or away. But they could always find her at night. The children didn't think there was anything strange about this-- she was a powerful Voudoun Mambu (priestess), and Voudou magick was always most-potent at midnight, so naturally she'd want to rest during the day so she could be active at night.

The children loved to sit and listen to Rosa Negra's Voudou stories, but it was Vanessa who got the courage up to ask her if she could learn from her, or assist her in her rituals. Rosa Negra was pleased with this, and started teaching Vanessa when she was about 12. By the time Vanessa was 16, she was very strong and skilled at letting the loas ride her, and she showed no fear at anything Rosa Negra taught her or showed her. Rosa Negra finally decided to start revealing more of her true nature to Vanessa-- that she was a Vampire of the Sabbat Clan Serpents of the Light-- and made Vanessa a ghoul like Benita when she was 18.

Vanessa thrived on the power and excitement, and was proud that her teacher trusted her with all this knowledge. Soon she was begging Rosa Negra to make her her Childe. Vanessa didn't have anything else going for her on her island. The most she could expect was to become a poverty-stricken Mambu, but she'd seen glimpses of how the rich and powerful lived, and she wanted to be more powerful than they were! Vanessa cried out that she would steal from them, drink from them, hurt them for all they'd done to her people and her island! She'd give their flesh and their souls to the loas-- that's what Vanessa wanted to do!
This was all Rosa Negra needed to hear. She Embraced Vanessa on All Saint's Day (Nov. 1st) when she was 24. Vanessa spent almost 21 years with the Sabbat of her island-- both the Dominican Republic and Haiti-- before she finally got her chance to sneak into the United States and join the Sabbat in Miami, Florida in 1966. It was there that she learned English. But she really dreamed of the big lights of New York, and after 5 years in Florida, she was able to move up to New York where she was accepted into a pack.

Vanessa was with her pack for a few years before tragedy struck. During a battle with the Garou, all in the pack but Vanessa were savagely killed. Vanessa only escaped because of her childhood-training of having to be sneaky and quick in order to survive. She and other survivors of similar Garou-attacks were formed together as a new pack. They have done very well for themselves. Having driven the Anarchs from Toronto and killed the Anarch Prince Janee, they now control the city...but for how long?
