APPEARANCE: In her Homid form she's about 5'6", 130 lbs. She has long back hair with the sides pulled back and fastened with a leather thong and white feather (white, to honor the Air Spirits). She plans on shaving her hair into the traditional top-knot once she passes her Rite of Adulthood. She has gentle light-brown eyes that look out-of-place in the setting of her leanly-muscled athletic body, as well as when she's in her Lupus or Crinos forms. When not in her Homid form, her fur is a beautiful mix of browns and grays.
Trained to be a ranger/tracker by both of her parents, Onera prefers to wear the clothing of a man-- leather tunic, breeches and boots. She also wears a white beaded necklace to honor the Air Spirits that she has an affinity with.
PERSONALITY: (to come!)
QUOTE: (to come!)
STORY: Onera's mother is a Croatan Ahroun named Akaweksa Kah'Wistara-Ken (meaning "quicksilver"). Her father is an Iroquois Mohawk named Watenake (meaning "white birch"). Her father was a fierce warrior as well as an experienced ranger-tracker before Onera's birth. Her mother was a well-respected Garou warrior. They had known each other for many years before the worm-creature-incident that brought them together.
One of the Garou scouts from the sept had run into the caern out of breath and clearly upest. He'd told the elders that there was a large wyrm-creature spotted in the surrounding forest. The elders had quickly assembled a group of the best warriors-- both Garou and human-- and Akaweksa and Watenake had both been selected.
Once in the woods, the Garou had determined that it was indeed a very large wyrm-creature, and had advised the human warriors to climb the highest tree and then shoot arrows down on the creature so that there would be less casualties. Watenake-- a caring and thoughtful man-- stayed at the base of the tree and helped all the other warriors to climb, saving himself for last.
As he started to climb, the wyrm-creature broke into the clearing and saw him. It roared in delight and ran at the warrior, grabbing his ankle as Watenake tried to scramble faster up the tree. Akaweksa saw this and her heart cried out. She had secretly been in love with Watenake for years, but had found her words too clumsy to dare try to tell him.
Akaweksa burst into the clearing, roaring in rage, and lept upon the wyrm-creature's back, raking the slimy flesh off in huge chunks. The creature shrieked in pain and released Watenake's ankle, but much damage had already been done. The Garou and humans made short work of the worm-creature-- Akaweksa credited with the killing-blow-- and then they returned to the caern with Watenake held carefully in Akaweksa's arms.
The healers worked quickly on Watenake's wounds, and Akaweksa used her Porcupine Quill to draw out the wyrm-poison, but there was still irrepairable damage done to Watenake's hip. Akaweksa stayed in the healing-tent with Watenake day and night, and over time the two grew close enough to reveal their love for each other in words, and then physically. Onera was conceived that night, and the couple were wed the month after.
Watenake had a permanant limp, so his warrior-days were over. Instead he spent his time learning tanning and fletching, and with the gift of his nimble fingers he soon became very proficient. He still loved to go into the woods to keep up his skills at tracking and survival, and these he taught to Onera when she was old enough to learn, and he also taught her tanning and fletching.
Akaweksa taught Onera the skills she would need to know as a Garou warrior. Onera was a Philodox, but every Garou was also a warrior.
