Beginning of the Vancho Kitanov Playground Restoration Project, July 2003 |
The renovation of the playground at Pehcevo's elementary school, Vancho Kitanov Elementary, was a joint project between the community of Pehcevo, Peace Corps, and USAID through Peace Corps' SPA (Small Project Assistance) grant program. The grant was written by myself and my counterpart at Kladenec Ecological Association, Jasminka Pasaliska-Andonovska, and was approved by the SPA Committee (consisted of several Peace Corps Volunteers, a Peace Corps staff and a USAID representative) in June 2003, and was concluded in May 2004. We later received additional funding from CSHI (Community Self-Help Initiative). These pictures are meant to give an idea of what the area looked like for the children before the renovation. Stay tuned for future pics to see how the playground turned out! |
