| Tell us about your first role? In seventh grade, I played the fastest gun in the west in The Death and Life of Sneaky Finch I heard you were wonderfull? Oh Yes, the notices in the trades were excellent What was your first though when you read the pilot script for friends? When I read for Chandler I was like, wow, I can shake hands with this guy. Initially did the show seem very generation x-ish to you? I remember the networks concern was that it not be tagged that was so tha only Gen x types watched it.It's not like I have a lot of seventy year olds writing to me, but my grandfather watches the show every week and he loves it. He says his friends do too. How much are you like Chandler? Chandler's a sarcastic guy, dry, funny - a guy who's not comfortable unless he's joking and hiding the emotional stuff that's going on with him. And yeah, I can relate to that a little bit. Are you surprised to find Chandler viewed as a sex symbol? Is Chandler being Viewed as a sex symbol ? Well, by a few of my friends he is ? Really ? God bless 'em What would you say the shows really about ? I thought the pitch was about people in there twenties who sit around and say funny things. But that's not really what it is. I asked Marta one day and she said they'd come off working on Dream on, which was about someone who'd made hos choices on life and was living with them. Friends is about people who are in that period when they're on the verge of deciding what the hell they're going to do with their lives. Has startdom been everything you imagined ? The Cliches you hear about -- you get on ahit show and get assigned supermodels and they beg you to marry them -- none of that is happening. There's no begging, at least on their part. The big change is I get up in the morning and go somewhere I like. Have you heard from any powerful friends fans? I haven't heard from Clinton, but Maggie Thatcher's a big fan, especially of Chandler and Joey's scenes. She loves that stuff. Top |
