Weekly Letter
Every week students get a letter from me that describes what we will be doing over the course of the week. I do this because I know that my students lives are busy and I want them to complete assignments and be able to participate in lessons, sports, church and other activities; the letters allow families to make decision about when homework time best fits into their schedule.

I also write these letters to help keep parents aware of what we are doing in the classroom. Hopefully, with this information parents have a very helpful tool for keeping track of their child's education.

Over the first semester I require that students have these letters signed by parents. They receive points in class for bringing them home, having a parents read and sign them, and then returning them to school. The letters stay in student's writer's notebooks so we can refer to them in class.

Over second semester I no longer require that parents sign each letter, but I do provide extra credit to those families that continue in the habit.
