| Dear Students and Parents; Welcome to 7th grade English class! I am excited that the year has begun and I can't wait to see what we will accomplish together. There are a few things that you should know about before the first day of school. First of all, there are some supplies that you will need to have with you right away. Please try to have the following items with you in class the first day: 1. a spiral notebook that can be used EXCLUSIVELY for English 2. blue or black ink pens - no gel pens please! 3. a 1 inch Viewbinder or Clearview 3 ring notebook 4. a book to read 5. Optional: colored pencils, markers, and clear sheet protectors There are several ways to contact me or access information about our class: Weekly Letter: You will be receiving a letter every Monday that will detail the assignments and plans for the week. This letter should be signed by a parent and taped into the students writer's notebook. Homework Hotline: The number is 506-6018, press 7, then 1, then 3. I will update this number daily so you will be able to count on its accuracy. Email or Voicemail: I can be reached at 506-6136 or [email protected] Webpage: You will find very detailed information such as copies of the weekly letters, assignment expectation sheets and sample work. Students can also access practice quizzes and extra credit opportunities. You can get there through the Sandburg web page, or directly at www.geocities.com/lisa_silmser If you want to get a head start on your first major assignment, start collecting items that describe you. Find old pictures, ticket stubs or valentines. Magazine cutouts and artwork work great too! You will get more information about this assignment during the first week of school. (If you are anxious to getting working on it, check out the requirements on my website!) Sincerely, Lisa M. Silmser |
