Fiction Logs

Students are expected to write book reports about the books they are reading independently. For 7th grade, these reports take the form of a "Fiction Log" in order to help students meet the Fiction Graduation Standard.

For the 1st quarter of the year, students meet the fiction log requirement by completing the blue worksheets available in the classroom. These worksheets only work for fiction books. There are pink worksheets which go with non-fiction books.

For the rest of the school year, students are expected to create their own fiction log which includes the following information:

Title of the Book
Author
Number of Pages


1.Information about the characters - provide at few details of description

2. What is the setting for the book - please include both where and when information

3. Describe the conflict - what problem must the characters overcome?

4. Predict how you think the characters will deal with the conflict - how do you think the story will end? (If you are completing the fiction log after you have already finished the book - describe how you thought it was going to end.)

5. Information about the main events of the story - list at least 5 of the main events and give some explanation of what occured

6. What is the resolution of the story? Tell.how the character overcome or deal with the conflict.

7. What is your evaluation of the book? Explain why you consider it a good book or a bad book using the criteria we created in class.

8. You must have a parent signature and the date.
