| Media literacy is the education that adults and students need to become active participants in a society that is becoming more and more media driven. Schools need to start teaching it along with math, science, social studies and English if our society is going to become active viewers of the media. Canadian and European schools already have media studies integrated into all of their subjects and the United States is beginning to follow their example. Change is slow to come but in the future media literacy will become a core subject in all schools, instead of an aberration that is studied in only a few schools around the country. |
