| Ruby's are made of Aluminum and Oxigen. Al^2O^3 is their chemical equation. There color comes not only from the elements they are composed of but from how long they are "cooked" in the earth. Burmese Ruby's are some of the most valuable in the world and are said to have a far superior color quality than ruby's mined in other places. Most ruby's have been "cooked" in a man made oven to increase their color quality and make them more expensive. However, the most expensive and hard to find gems are ones that are naturally without the type of flaws that decrease the gems value. |
