Click here to read a transcription | In August, 1859, Amelia's daughter Teresa married William John Scott. The youngest daughter and the last of the girls to marry, Teresa's leaving was a cause of great sorrow for Amelia, glad as she was for her new son-in-law. In October of that year Teresa and Mr. Scott left for England, and Amelia detailed in her diary her sadness at Teresa's leaving and that all of her children were growing up, marrying and leaving her. Amelia's life revolved around her children and she was happiest when Eldon House was filled with her family. |
