A soft wood tree that will grow rather quickly and become a large specimen tree if desired, will
last for years if properly maintained ( we have a tree in are front lawn that is well over 200
years old!) Great shade tree's and nice fall color but is quick to lose its leaves and late to
get them back in the spring.

** Manitoba maple **
Very fast growing soft wood tree resembling a maple a bit in its leaf pattern, will grow in a
variety of sites and in poor soils, good for wind breaks with poplars until main trees fill
in. Attractive when young can become a bit messy when older because of its maple keys and
tendency to drop twigs and sticks like a willow. Can grow quite large up to 60 feet in about 30
years.
