THE LION KING
STORY
As the sun rose up over the African
Plain, animals of all types journeyed to Pride Rock to celebrate the birth of King Mufasa's son.
Rafiki, an old baboon, climbed Pride Rock and greeted Mufasa. They walked over to where Queen Sarabi lay with tiny Prince Simba. Rafiki shook his stick of gourds over Simba, who pawed at it. Rafiki then cracked a gourd open, smeared it on
Simba's head, then sprinkled dust over it, causing baby
Simba to sneeze.  Rafiki took him to the edge of Pride Rock
and held him high for all to see. The animals bowed down
in respect for Simba.
The only animal not there was
Scar, Mufasa's overly jealous brother.
He was playing with a mouse when Zazu, the hornbill, came and announced King Mufasa's coming.  Scar pounced, and as he got Zazu in his mouth, Mufasa appeared and said,
"SCAR!! Drop him!"  Scar reluctantly spit Zazu out.
"Sarabi and I didn't see you at the presentation of Simba," Mufasa told Scar.
"That was today? Oh I feel simply awful! Must've slipped my mind," Scar said, sarcastically.
"Well, as slippery as your mind is, as the king's brother, you should've been first in line!" Zazu put in.
    "I
was first, until the little hairball was born," said Scar.
     "That
'hairball' is my son, and your future king," Mufasa told him.
A few more mean words and growls, and Scar walked off.
"He'd make a very handsome throw rug," said Zazu. "Whenever he gets
dirty you can take him out and beat him."
(Meanwhile, in his tree, Rafiki makes a picture of Simba.)
A few months later, Simba and
Mufasa took a walk through the
Pride Lands, and the 'prey' for the
                                    Pouncing lesson is Zazu! Mufasa
left because Zazu told him of hyenas in the Pride Lands. Zazu escorted Simba home. Simba went right to his Uncle Scar and told him of his adventure. Scar told Simba of the elephant graveyard and that only brave lions go there.
Simba went immediately to where his best friend Nala was
getting her bath. Simba started to tell her, but his mom grabbed
him and started bathing him! After he got down, Simba told
Sarabi they were going to the waterhole, so she allowed them to
                                                       go if Zazu went, too.
                                                        Zazu talked on and on
                                                        about Nala and Simba getting
married. Simba and Nala sang and
raced across the plain along with
                                                        other animals.

They finally got away from Zazu, and after much pinning, they finally reached the elephant graveyard; only to be greeted by 3 hungry hyenas.  They chased the cubs until they were trapped. 'rooaar' growled Simba. The hyenas laughed, "Do it again! HeeeHee!"
  "RRROOAAARRR!!!!"
It was Mufasa, and he fought off the hyenas.
"Take Nala home," Mufasa said to Zazu. "I've got to teach my son a lesson."  Nala and Zazu walked off, and Mufasa gave Simba a lecture about putting Nala in danger and disobeying him.  Simba said he was just trying to be brave. Mufasa said don't go looking for trouble.
"The great kings of the past look down at us from those stars. Whenever you feel alone, the kings will be there to guide you, and so will I." Mufasa said.
