| 'Holly Hill' A warm wind blows on Holly hill The moon glares on the trees A quiet song of lovers gone glides gently on the breeze A hundred years in time has passed Since there lovers pact was sealed A century of tragic loss still haunts this eery hill Two lovers hearts in passions heat a secret rendeveoux No greater love no sadder fate The world has ever knew She married young and to a man who's cruelty was known Her youth became a living hell Inside his evil home So wanting love that made her whole She slipped into the night To meet him there on Holly Hill where the world seemed safe and right He came upon the two of them with rage upon his soul He left them in the cold hard ground with jealousy untold They say that on a warm dark night in the valley down below An eery light on Holly Hill You'll see there lovers glow If you listen close beyond the wind You'll hear the lovers trill Of laughter in the gentle breeze Up there on Holly Hill by David Mullins *MORE POETRY by David Mullins* Return to Submitted Poetry Return to Home Page |
