| From a small trading village we have grown to be a significant dot in the International Atlas. Our ministers ply the globe to "sell" this Country. And probably they have done a good job. Expatriates and tourist who just sees the surface is all praise and compliments. And indeed after our Independence in 1965 we have been dubbed a Miracle Economy and also nicknames one of the ASia Tigers. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| And as this merlion once stands on the economic river mouth of Singapore, it would seems she has "blessed" us. Nevertheless, the TRUTH cannot be too far away. Today many are ensnared by debt. Once we were dubbed "Asset Rich Cash Poor" but today with negative equity, most Singaporeans are heavily burdened. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

| The Spirit of Merlion is but a spirit of false god of wealth. We are seemingly rich and vibrant but the majority are burdened and oppressed. For the Devil is out to "steal, Kill and Destroy". To bound many by debt and drive them to despair whenever he has a chance. We are always striving for excellence but never reaching there. Proverbs 27:20 : HELL and DESTRUCTION are NEVER SATISFIED, neither are the EYES OF MAN. We are always driven. Running around but real wealth eludes us. |

| Our Merlion has grown up . No more the "chubby and cubby" being but a leaner and meaner looking merlion Founded on a legend by the natives of this land in the 11th century, the symbol lives on after 1,000years in the 21st century Singapore. |
