News Well, here it is...The end of the year and the end of the millennium! We started out 1999 pretty rough with Danny doing that 5 weeks in Riley for the flu, but so far that's been all, save 2 recent 24 hour observations! Maybe we'll get lucky this time, who knows!
Now It's a countdown to Christmas for the kids. You can bet I hear "I want that!" for every new commercial they have on TV! And since Danny has no idea that old Santa needs money to get these things his price rages get pretty high! The latest is that $200.00 Jeff Gordon car they found in a catalog in school. He's just gonna go ask old Santa if the elves could whip him up one of those! Maybe I'll use the "It's too big for the sleigh" routine...That might work for now! I'm sure he'll be happy with whatever he gets long as it has wheels!! Summer changes her mind daily so I'm just gonna have to shop and pray she likes whatever decides to jump off the shelf at me! I'm sure if I get her some stuff to put in her hair and on her nails and a new outfit to look "in" in school she'll survive! I refuse to buy Pokemon cards though...She's just going to have to babysit to buy those! Anyway, we had a great year messing around on the Internet building web pages and posting pictures and chatting now and then...Makes you feel like you have friends that you don't even know! We haven't got a tree yet (its 12/09/99 today) I like to wait until Christmas vacation starts to get one. First of all so the kids have something to do untangling lights and decorating and second of all so it isn't a huge fire hazard by Christmas. Not to mention the fact that Danny gets up every morning to see if Santa has come and if we put it up too early he about has a nervous breakdown before the big day is here....Although this year he seems to have noticed how many other trees are already up and it's bothering him that ours isn't. Riley has a TON of trees and decorations EVERYWHERE! Summer's Holiday Band concert was last night. The kids did really well considering it was the first public performance for most of them and they were all REALLY NERVOUS. Summer's group played last so they had the whole concert to be backstage stewing in their own juices! She dressed up in a dress (actually a skirt...but still it's the first time since the art trophy in second grade!) and she claims to have squawked her clarinet only once although I didn't hear it maybe a cymbal was going at the same time if she was lucky! Danny LOVED the cymbals and the big drum. Later, when they're developed I'll post pictures of Summer all dressed up! She wanted to wear it to school Wednesday, but I told her I was sure once the kids learned the glitter on her top rubbed off she'd have no sparkle left by concert time so I talked her out of it. Anyways, that's all our news until Christmas break gets here and we get a tree and make gingerbread houses. |
