PERHAPS LOVE
Words & Music by John Denver

Perhaps love is like a resting place
A shelter from the storm
It exists to give you comfort
It is there to keep you warm
And in those times of trouble
When you are most alone
The memory of love will bring you home

Perhaps love is like a window
Perhaps an open door
It invites you to come closer
It wants to show you more
And even if you lose yourself
And don't know what to do
The memory of love will see you through

Oh, love to some is like a cloud
To some as strong as steel
For some a way of living
For some a way to feel
And some say love is holding on
And some say letting go
And some say love is everything
And some say they don't know

Perhaps love is like an ocean
Full of conflict, Full of change
Like a fire when it's cold outside
Or thunder when it rains
If I should live forever
And all my dreams come true
My memories of Love will be of You

FEBRUARY 7, 2000
Is it February already?!  Oh yeah, I guess it is!
Tim's birthday was the 5th.  We got him a new pair of jeans...well actually he had to pay for them so I don't know what that counts as...Actually, his real birthday present from me was that he got to go out with his friends on Friday night AND Saturday too...without me complaining...It is only once a year after all!  He got a really cool Dayle Earnhardt tee-shirt from his department at work too.
I couldn't do much for him as I was experiencing a brand new thing!  I overdrew my checking account!!  OMYGOD!  I didn't know that I would have to pay 25$ a check...and there were 2 of them!! One of them was for 10$ and I had to pay a 25$ fine on it...Somehow that doesn't seem fair...Guess I'll never do that again!! Not that I knew I did it this time!  My calculator must have had belated Y2K syndrome or something...All I know is that it sure costed me alot!!
I have to go tomorrow and get that tooth that was killing me the end of last month pulled.  That ought to be alot of fun!  Well, at least it won't happen again with that one...If I can keep my current record of one toothache every 11 years I'll be doing ok!
Summer's science fair project is due tomorrow.  We're really hoping for the best as she's done this one COMPLETELY on her own...She stayed after school a couple of times to get help from the teacher and use their equipment to work on it.  If she does well, she should REALLY be proud of herself!  It looks pretty good to me, but then what do I know? I never had science fairs in school.  Last year we had a bit of bad luck...As she had to move the project from one room to another as the judges were headed her way.  One of the VERY IMPORTANT papers...actually I think it was the entire report, got misplaced underneath the ramp and we didn't even notice it missing...So it got graded as if she hadn't even done it!  I sure wish one of the first judges would have asked her where it was and we would have gotten it out and she wouldn't have suffered the D she got...It was a real blow to her ego!  At least she won't make that mistake again!
She also is going to go to her first dance this week. (Not including the "Father - Daughter" dances that she and Tim went to for girl scouts!...Somehow I don't think that's the same!)
We'll have to put notes about it here later.
Danny's still well.  He got in trouble the end of January.  He got a one day suspension from school for hitting someone!  Can't say as I blame the school much...Lord knows they've tried everything else! I made him sit in his chair for awhile and "Think about what you did!" then I made him work...He had to clean up his whole room and make the bed and no tv or computer or anything all day!  Actually it was grueling for me as I had a KILLER toothache...But I made him suffer enough to not do anything on purpose just to get to come home.  Tim left work to come to the school with me just to stress to Danny how important it was that this not happen again!
It might have worked for now...I haven't had anymore reports of hitting...Although I remind him every morning that I DO NOT want Mr. Grismore to have to call me!
Well, that's all for right now...I'll have to add more later...I'll post a picture of Summer at the science fair last year here.

FEBRUARY 23,2000
Well, I had better get my February News page done as it is almost March!!
Summer's first dance....Well, I don't think it was all she hoped it would be, but she had fun.  I think most of the dancing was done in groups.  She didn't have any one on one going on...which is fine with me, although I don't know how she felt about it.  I think she may have felt better if she had brought her camera and took alot of pictures...speaking from my own experiences photography can be a pretty good friend and ice-breaker in some situations.
And then there was Valentine's Day.  Danny was sick and didn't go to school to pass his out...Summer didn't get one much to her dismay ... I shoulda had Tim get her one...Emmett Lee did send her a email saying happy V. Day so that made her feel a little better..  Tim sent beautiful  flower arrangements to his mother and grandmother.  I told him I didn't want one cause I hate when they die, so he got me a huge bag of yarn in many different colors and when stood on end in the bag they did look much like a bouquet! (for my Club Plastic Canvas projects explained further down the page)
We've been practicing being broke these past 2 weeks.  Tim's parents house was broken into while they are in Florida for the winter. It was totally trashed out and his grandma's car, which has alot of sentimental value to his family was stolen too. He took some days off work to help clean things back up and fix a bunch of broken doors.  He didn't use vacation days because I was recently griping at him that we wouldn't have anything left to go to Northern Michigan  on if he used them all up a couple at a time over the winter.
He really hates the winter and it gets to be a real grind for him to be at work EVERY day.  He likes to be down working on the farm and in the tool sheds and out mowing that 10 acres  in the summer sun....
So anyways he couldn't get the kids everything they asked for for awhile and Danny especially is having a hard time understanding...It made me realize how much the kids absolutely beg for EVERYTHING cause it's getting on my last nerve.
We've been playing yo-yo with Riley the past two weeks too.
(and balloons are $4.50 and we didn't buy any!  ZERO...If you can believe that!!)
Danny has been sick as you can tell if you read the message board on the Newsletter index Page.

THE SCIENCE FAIR... I think Summer did well at the science fair, although she did not get an award or make it to the regionals... I don't think her report was as advanced as the judges want it to be to make it further than her school...I'll have to let everyone know when we get her grade.

I have joined a couple of Yahoo Clubs for plastic canvas.  I have been receiving so many patterns in my email box that I would never have time to begin to stitch them all.  We are doing an exchange in one club that involves everyone signed up (17 people including me) to stitch a square that's 32X36 bars (7count canvas) and putting a picture of our choice and our name  on and sending one to each member and they do the same for you and in the end we have squares from 16 other people to stitch together and make a wall hanging representing a bunch of our internet friends from all over the U.S. and Canada...I think it's a really FAROUT idea and have been working my butt off trying to get the squares done.  It's so hard to type to chat and try to stitch at the same time!  And I've learned that I suck at trying to follow a pattern when we are at the hospital...I miscount everything!

Other news in my life is that I just heard from Emmett's niece Christy, whom I will ALWAYS consider to be my niece no matter what happens. so that was pretty nice...I haven't heard anything about her and her family since I was divorced and she was just a teenager...now she's all grown up and has her own family!
AND  Londa too...I heard form her and she says she's full of good news she's dying to tell me...I thought she moved to China or something I haven't heard from her in so long!  (Isn't it funny that my fingers automatically type Londa instead of Lona..just like baby Summer's mouth figured if I was Linda then she must be Londa)
For anyone that doesn't know who she is...she about saved my life once when I was stranded homeless with two babies on my own...as long as she was around I was never alone and had the courage to do what I needed to do!

Today the Indiana weather was beautiful.  I even left the door open half the day. Summer and friends were out playing hide and seek until dark.  Summer got a Jelly Belly Beanie Bean from Emmett Lee in the mailbox today..She thought that was FAROUT...His nick name for her is Jelly Bean now.  Her friends all thought it was way cool too.  Sometimes all this worries me in relation to Tim...He's the one that has loved and taken cared for us for the past 10 years...So far he's been holding up pretty well...Well, at least I know he's secure in the fact that I wouldn't trade him for anything and he knows he's MY "till death do us part" one (my loyalties run very deep in all areas of my life), so maybe that's why he's OK with it...I can't even begin to imagine how I'd feel if I was in his position!
Well, I spose that's it for February except what you will find on the message board..
so until I do my March update....
Peace,Love,Health,Hope and Happiness to you all...
Linda
