Kenshin Himura
Age: 28
What makes Kenshin Kenshin? His "X" scar and his personality! :P In actuality, he got each part of the cross at separate times when he was Hitokiri Battosai (even though everyone in the Mejei era insists on calling him Battosai!) He's short, I think about 5' 4" in height (158 cm) He's quite charming, yet he has a mysterious past. Everyone learns that he was Hitokiri Battosai, but there was more to it. Kenshin also had a tragic event while he was a hitokiri. What was it? I'm not going to tell you. Read the manga or watch the show or OVA's!! :P
Kenshin is a goof. A big goof. He jokes, acts goofy, and always gets on Kaoru's nerves! Not only that, He cooks, cleans, and baby sits. He uses a sakabato (reverse edge sword) to protect the ones he loves. He constantly saying "Oro" and "Yare Yare", refers to hiself as "sessha", and says "de gozaru" at the end of his sentances, and He was trained in the sword style Hiten Mitsurugi Ryuu. Kenshin vowed never to kill again, and became a rurouni at the end of the Bakumatsu.
Kaoru Kamiya
Age: 17
She is the the teacher of the Kamiya Kassien (sp?) style, and her student is Yahiko Myojin. We first start out with her searching for Hitokiri Battosai. She runs into Kenshin, who was just wandering, minding his own bussiness. After finding out that Kenshin wasn't responsible for the recent murduers, she runs into the one that is calling himself hitokiri battosai. Kaoru is attacked, then saved by Kenshin. After the fake Hitokiri battosai affair, Kaoru allows Kenshin to stay at her dojo.
Sanosuke Sagara
age: 19
He was part of the sekihotai, the "false imperial army." When we see him in the anime, he is known as Zanza the fighter. Sano carried a large sword called a zanbatou. After his defeat with Kenshin, he joined Kenshin and co, and became a freeloader. And he still hasn't given up his ruffian nature.
Yahiko Myojin
age: I think 10.
At first, Yahiko was a pickpocket for the yakuza, supposedly paying back for their "kindness" He tried to steal Kenshin's wallet, and Kenshin was willing to give it to Yahiko, but Yahiko threw back at Kenshin, at his head, so to speak. Kenshin soon saves Yahiko, and Yahiko reluctantly became Kaoru's student. Yahiko wishes to one day be like Kenshin: Yahiko even worked at the akebeko to buy a sakabato! :P
Megumi Takani
Age: 22
She was first making opium for Kanryuu. She had no choice than to do so, because her father made opium for Kanryuu, and he died. By coincedence, Kenshin and Sano are in the same gambleing hall Megumi runs into to get help. She almost commits suicide from keeping her friends from getting hurt. After the Kanryuu affair, Megumi becomes a doctor and works for Dr. Genzai. She is also a much better cook than Kaoru, and is a big flirt. :P
Tsunan Tsukiota
Age: Unknown
He was a famous artis, and once was part of the Sekihotai. He and Sano are friends, I think best friends, and was a survivor of the Sekihotai affair. Tsunan wanted revenge on the Mejei government for betraying the Sekihotai, and began an attack on the government, but that failed.
Afterwards, Tsunan gave up drawing and began writing a newspaper protesting the mejei government.
Hiko Seijuuro
Age: I think 45
He's Kenshin's master and the 13th sucssesor of the Hiten Mitsurugi ryuu. When Kenshin returned to Hiko for training, Hiko was then a ceramic artist.
Misao Makimachi
Age: 16
She ran into kenshin while she was running from the Yukaza, having stole from them. After learning that Kenshin knew about Aoshi, she followed him to Kyoto for information. She has a big crush on Aoshi, and calls him Lord Aoshi, or Aoshi-sama. She is a part of the Oniwabansyu, and after Aoshi attacked Okina (Misao's adoptive father), she appointed herself as the leader of the Oniwabansyu.
Aoshi Shinomori
age: unknown
He became the leader of the Oniwabansyu when he was 15. After the Kanruu affair, Aoshi became so obsessed with becoming the best that he became cold. Kenshin finally made Aoshi realize what he was doing wrong.
Saito Hajime

Shishio Makoto
age: Unknown
His plan was to take over Japan, first by setting the great Kyoto fire, then bombing Tokyo. He founded the junppongatanna, and was the one to tell Soujiro that the weak is food for the strong. He was kenshin's sucssesor after Kenshin gave up killing. The mejei government tried to kill Shishio by burning him. Shishio can ignight his sword into flames because it is smeared with the fat of those he has killed. After he dies by spontaniuse combustion, and ends up in hell, he decides to take over hell.
Soujiro Seta
age: older than he looks.
He had a rough childhood, and when he saw Shishio kill a police officer, he was going to be killed. Instead of crying, Soujiro smiled, since that is what he learned to do when beaten by his adoptors. Shishio gave Soujiro a sword, and his adopted family was slaughtered soon after by Souhiro. Soujiro is the best fighter in the junppongatana.
Enishi Yukishiro

When he was young, he tried to convince his sister, Tomoe, to return home, and not live with Kenshin. Soon afterwards, he witnessed his sister's death at the hands of Kenshin, even though it was an accident. Ten years later, and he was living in Shanghai. He was the leader of the chinese mafia, and had almost forgotten how to speak japanese. Enishi was the one who supplied Shishio with the Purgetory. He also kidnapped Kaoru. Enishi want's revenge on Kenshin for the death of Tomoe.
