In 2014, Gary Smith and Sheri Locke had a desire to feed the hungry in Ottumwa so they opened Blessings Soup Kitchen. At this place, which was founded upon donations and the labor of volunteers, any hungry person can receive a meal regardless of their ability to pay.

This isn't your run of the mill, grab a tray and make your way through the line, kind of place. It is a true restaurant with real plates and silverware. Guests are encouraged to come in as if they were coming home to visit.
