About Me: Hi everyone! My name is Lindsey Sanders. In December 2006, I graduated from University of California at Los Angeles, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology. I now attend Cal State Northridge where I am entering my second and final semester in the multiple-subject credential program. I have student taught in a 6th grade classroom in Simi Valley, and I am preparing myself to student teach in a first grade class in the fall. I love to teach as much as I love to learn, and that is why I have been a private tutor for nine years. I love to spend time with my yellow labrador, and I love to cook! |

Teaching Philosophy: Subjects are interdependent,
and so it is my goal to enrich students’ lives through the simultaneous study
of all disciplines. The advantage of teaching curriculum as a whole instead of
as individual subjects is that there is emphasis placed on learning as one
entity. It is much easier to study and practice the individual disciplines when
they are learned as a collective whole. Students benefit from practicing
reading, writing, and vocabulary while learning history or science. The community environment is an essential part of the learning process for students. I want to create a community environment in the classroom in which I teach. With a community environment comes equal opportunity for the students; one where they all feel that they play an equal and important role, and they are comfortable to express their opinions and questions. I will display students’ work on the walls of the classroom to allow them to be proud of their work and accomplishments. I will provide students with opportunities to constantly cooperate with one another, and learn from each other. |

EED 515OL: EED 515OL is part of the multiple subject credential program at Cal State Northridge. The class is taught completely online, but still allows students to learn major computer skills that are valuable to classroom teachers. Computers and technology should be incorporated into the classroom routine because of the universality of computers today. Dr. Chang has made it possible for me to learn and succeed. Thanks! |
