My first insight into Web Design. Lesson one, is an excersise in using the colors from an image or background to make a swatch and then use the colors in the swatch to co ordinate the design of the web page. It is essential to use colors that compliment each other. Most people are likely to stay and read it through if it is pleasing to the eye. Textures can be used for the main background on the web page, these should always be lightweight in order to read the text easily. The wrong texture can spoil all the hard work that has been applied so far.
