BECOMING/ACCEPTANCE

Life is a process.  We are a process.  Everything that has happened in our lives has happened for a reason and is an intergral part of our becoming.

One of the challenges of our lives is to integrate the pieces of our lives as we live them.  It is sometimes tempting to try to deny huge periods of our lives or forget significant events, especially if they have been painful.  To try to erase our past is to rob ourselves of our own hard-earned wisdom.

There is not a child or an adolescent within us.  There is the child or adolescent that has grown into us.

When we realize that among the most important strengths that we bring to our work are the life experiences we have had and the ages we have been, maybe we will not resent getting older.

My wisdom emerges as I accept and integrate all that I have been and all that has happened to me.
IS IT LOVE OR INFATUATION?

Infatuation is fleeting desire - one set of glands calling to another.  It is marked by a feeling of insecurity.  You are excited and eager but not genuinely happy.  There are nagging doubts, unanswered questions, little bits and pieces about the relationship that you would just as soon not examine too closely.  It might spoil the dream.

Love is friendship that has caught fire. It takes root and grows, one day at a time.  Love is quiet understanding and mature acceptance of imperfection.  It is real.  It gives you strength and grows beyond you - to bolster your beloved.  You are warmed by his presence, even when he is away.  Miles do not separate you.  You have so many wonderful films in your head that you keep replaying.  But near or far, you know he is yours, and you can wait.

Infatuation says, "We must get married right away.  I can't risk losing him."  Love says, "Be patient. Don't panic. Plan your future with confidence."

Infatuation has an element of sexual excitement.  Whenever you are together, you hope it will end in intimacy.

Love is not based on sex.  It is the maturation of friendship that makes sex so much sweeter.  You must be friends before you can be lovers.

Infatuation lacks confidence.  When he's away, you wonder if he's being unfaithful.  Sometimes, you check.

Love means trust.  You are calm, secure and unthreatened.  He feels your trust, and it makes him even more trustworthy.

Infatuation might lead you to do things you will regret, but love never steers you in the wrong direction.

Love is elevating.  It lifts you up.  It makes you better than you were before.
DISAPPOINTMENTS IN LIFE

There are many disappointments in life, some more tolerable than others.  I have a tendency to look at others with envy, wanting the things in life that they take for granted.

I must realize that I may not understand everything that goes on in my life and I must learn to accept the things which I cannot change. I should not expect too much from others when; in fact, they are doing the best that they can.  I set my expectations too high.  Just because someone is different does not mean you should love them less.  Expect nothing and then everything will be a bonus.

Start each day as your first and live it as your last, savouring each and every little miracle along the way. Remember, there is always sunshine even on a cloudy day.
THE TIME IS NOW

If you're ever going to love me,
Love me now, while I can know
The sweet and tender feelings,
Which from true affections flow.

Love me now while I am living.
Do not wait until I'm gone,
And then have it chiseled in marble,
Sweet words on ice-cold stone.

If you have tender thoughts of
Me, please tell me now.
If you wait until I am sleeping,
Never to awaken, there will be death
Between us, and I won't hear you then.

So if you love me, even a little bit,
Let me know it while I am living
So I can know and treasure it.

         WHO KNOWS

Who knows what the wind will bring,
Who knows what song the birds will sing.
Who knows what time the flowers bloom,
Who knows when the rain will loom.

Who knows what day the sun will shine,
Who knows how tall will grow a pine.
Who knows when night becomes morn,
Who knows the second a baby's born.

Who knows how much love can grow,
Who knows how much we don't know.
God is the answer we should mention,
He is the answer to every question.

                    ALL ABOUT LOVE

Whether 16 or 70, or inbetween, love is the supreme emotion that lifts you off the floor and lets you walk on air.  When you are in love, everything is brighter and better. You feel like singing, dancing, whistling, skipping, kissing and touching.  The sky is bluer, the dark clouds less threatening.

Your smile is broader.  You want to shout it from the housetops and tell the world, the fellow next to you on the train, the cab driver, the girl at the checkout counter - anyone who will lend an ear.

How do you know when you are in love?  You just know.  Your soul mate is just as certain.  You would go to the ends of the Earth for the one you love, walk barefoot over glowing coals, brave shark-infested waters, challenge a tiger.

Love takes two.  The feeling must be equally intense for both.  One-sided love simply doesn't work.  Unreciprocated love borders on fantasy.  It is unrewarding and doomed to disappoint.

Sex combined with love is the ultimate high.  Sex without love will falter, fade and leave only emptiness.  True passion cannot be faked.  Nor can love.  It cannot be taught or explained, but you will know when true love comes to you.

You can probably tell I'm in love.

                MISS WORLD

I am the girl you know, can't look you in the eye.
I am the girl you know, so sick I cannot try.
And I am the one you want, can't look you in the eye.
I am the girl, you know, I lie, I lie and lie.

I am Miss World, somebody kill me. Kill me pills.
No one cares, my friends.  My friend.
I am Miss World, watch me break and watch me burn.
No one is listening, my friend....
Now I've made my bed, I'll lie in it,
I've made my bed, I'll die in it.
I've made my bed, I'll lie in it,
I've made my bed, I'll die in it.

Cute girls watch when I eat ether, suck me under.
Maybe forever, my friend.
Now I've made my bed, I'll lie in it,
I've made my bed, I'll die in it.
I've made my bed, I'll cry in it,
I've made my bed, I'll lie in it.

I am the girl you know, can't look you in the eye...

THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE ARE FREE

When we count our many blessings it isn't hard to see that life's most valued treasures are the treasures that are free.

For it isn't what we own or buy that signifies our wealth.

It's the special gifts that have no price; our family, friends and health.
YOU CAN NEVER ASK TOO MUCH OF GOD

Love has got the perfect plan,
I've finally come to understand.
You can never ask too much of God!

Love forgives your greatest sin,
With open arms to let you in,
You can never ask too much of God!

I know... There's one thing I'm always sure of,
It's the pureset emotion we have.
Love is... One never ending circle,
That brings us around to face ourselves.

I will never turn my back on YOU again,
I won't deny how hard You've tried,
And all You've been.
You can ever ask too much of God!

In an ordinary heart, the extra ordinary part is...
You can never ask too much of God!

There's no time, no way to measure,
God's an open endless treasure.
You can never ask too much of God!

Trust HIS love, peace and joy to surround and carry you each day!
ALL I NEED TO KNOW I LEARNED
FROM MY GUARDIAN ANGEL

Know all the possibilities of your impossible dreams.
Leave space in your relationships
so you'll have lots of room to play.
Be yourself.  Forgive, forget, and forge ahead.
It's easier to fly when you take yourself lightly.
Reach out and touch someone lightly with your wing.
Love is the only four-letter word you need to know.

Whenever you hear a bell, another angel
has earned their wings.
It's okay to cry during sad movies.
Don't postpone joy to scrub the bathroom
or clean the garage.
Whenever you feel afraid, get a new box of crayons.
Love mother earth.
Carry a spare set of wings in your pocket.
Wherever you go, that is where you will be.
Spread your wings and fly!

Always be an angel-on-call for a friend.
BEAUTY OF A WOMAN

The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair.  The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides.  The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole, but true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul.  It is her caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows, and the beauty of a woman with passing years only grows!
I asked God...

What did you ask for?

I asked God to take away my pain. God said, "No, it is not for me to take away, but for you to give up."

I asked God to make a handicapped child whole. God said, "No, her spirit is whole, her body is only temporary."

I asked God to grant me patience. God said, "No, patience is a byproduct of tribulations, it isn't granted, it is earned."

I asked God to give me happiness.  God said, "No, I give you blessings, happiness is up to you."

I asked God to spare me pain.  God said, "No, suffering draws you apart from worldly cares and brings you closer to me."

I asked God to make my spirit grow.  God said, "No, you must grow on your own, but I will prune you to make you fruitful."

I asked for all things that I might enjoy life.  God said, "No, I will give you life so that you may enjoy all things."

I asked God to help me love others, as much as He loves me. God said, "Ahhhhh, finally you have the right idea."

TOO MANY DAYS AT A TIME

There are two days in every week about which we should not worry.  Two days which should be kept free from fear and apprehension.

One of these days is yesterday, with it's mistakes and cares, it's faults and blunders, it's aches and pains.  Yesterday has passed forever beyond our control.  All the money in the world cannot bring back yesterday.  We cannot undo a single act we performed.  We cannot erase a single word we said.  Yesterday is gone!!

The other day we should not worry about is tomorrow, with it's possible adversities, it's burdens, it's large promise and poor performance.  Tomorrow is beyond our immediate control.  Tomorrow's sun will rise, whether in splendor or behind a mask of clouds.  But it will rise.  Until it does we have no stake in tomorrow, for it is yet unborn.

This leaves only one day; today.

Any man can fight the battles of just one day.  It is when you and I add the burdens of two awful eternities - yesterday and tomorrow, that we break down.  It is not necessarily the experience of today that disturbs one's peace of mind.  It is oftentime the bitterness for something which happened yesterday and the dread of what tomorrow may bring.  Let us; therefore, live one day at a time.
These words are dedicated to my one and only love,
My Dearest Michael.

RIGHT NOW -
Somebody is very proud of you.
Somebody is thinking of you.
Somebody is caring about you.
Somebody misses you.
Somebody wants to talk to you.
Somebody wants to be with you.
Somebody hopes you are not in trouble.
Somebody is thankful for the support you have provided.
Somebody wants to hold your hand.
Somebody hopes everything turns out all right.
Somebody wants you to be happy.
Somebody wants you to find her.
Somebody wants to give you a gift.
Somebody wants to hug you.
Somebody thinks you ARE a gift.
Somebody admires your strength.
Somebody is thinking of you and smiling.
Somebody wants to protect you.
Somebody can't wait to see you again.
Somebody loves you for who you are.
Somebody treasures your spirit.
Somebody is glad that you are their friend.
Somebody wants to get to know you even better.
Somebody wants to be near you.
Somebody wants you to know they are there for you.
Somebody would do anything for you.
Somebody wants to share their dreams with you.
Somebody is alive because of you.
Somebody needs your support.
Somebody will cry when they read this.
Somebody needs you to have faith in them.
Somebody trusts you.
Somebody hears a song that reminds them of you.
Somebody says you are their sunshine.

Somebody is deeply in love with you, and that somebody is me!

SLOW DANCE

Have you ever watched kids
On a merry-go-round
Or listened to the rain
Slapping on the ground?

Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?

You better slow down
Don't dance so fast
Time is short
The music won't last.

Do you run through each day
On the fly
When you ask "How are you?"
Do you hear the reply?

When the day is done,
Do you lie in your bed
With the next hundred chores
Running through your head?

You'd better slow down
Don't dance so fast
Time is short
The music won't last.

Ever told your child,
"We'll do it tomorrow."
And in your haste,
not see his sorrow?

Ever lost touch,
Let a good friendship die
'Cause you never had time
to call and say "Hi"?

You'd better slow down
Don't dance so fast
Time is short
The music won't last.

When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It's like an unopened gift, thrown away.

Life is not a race.
Do take it slower
Hear the music
Before the song is over.
IF TOMORROW NEVER COMES

If I knew it would be the last time that I'd see you fall asleep, I would tuck you in more tightly and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.

If I knew it would be the last time that I'd see you walk out the door, I would give you a hug and kiss and call you back for one more.

If I knew it would be the last time I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise, I would video tape each action and word, so I could play them back day after day.

If I knew it would be the last time, I could spare an extra minute or two to stop and say "I love you", instead of assuming, you would KNOW I do.

If I knew it would be the last time I would be there to share your day, well I'm sure you'll have so many more, so I can let just this one slip away.

For surely there's always tomorrow to make up for an oversight, and we always get a second chance to make everything right.

There will always be another day to say our "I love you's", and certainly there's another chance to say our "Anything I can do's?"

But just in case I might be wrong, and today is all I get, I'd like to say how much I love you and I hope we never forget - Tomorrow is not promised to anyone, young or old alike, and today may be the last chance you get to hold your loved one tight...

So if you're waiting for tomorrow, why not do it today? For if tomorrow never comes, you'll surely regret the day, that you didn't take that extra time for a smile, a hug, or a kiss and you were too busy to grant someone, what turned out to be their one last wish.

So hold your loved ones close today, whisper in their ear, Tell them how much you love them and that you'll always hold them dear.  Take time to say "I'm sorry," "please forgive me," "thank you" or "it's okay".

And if tomorrow never comes, you'll have no regrets about today.
