was born about 1780. A William Burrows is listed in Gillis' "Early Inhabitants
of Natches District - English Land Grants in Mississippi 1768 -1779. William
Burrows on Dec. 6, 1768 owned 600 acres. He was living in 1795 in Land claims
in MS Territory. A. Burrows in MS in 1795 on p. 692. He was living on 11 Jul
1807 in # 10 with 1600 acres on waters of the Homochitto River. He appeared
on the census in 1810 in Amite Co., MS, Old Natchez District. This was part
of Indian Cession of 1801 Treaty. 1 male over 21, 2 males under 21, 10 negro
slaves. He was the owner of the 11 slaves named in 1818 in Amite Co., MS. The
slaves were: Derry, Sam, Jack, Gibby, Lindy, Betty, Lucy, Hannah, Big Fanny,
Little Fanny, & Chrissey. He had 18 head of cattle with a crop and split
on one ear with a figure 7, a chestnut sorrell gelding, a bay mare, kitchen and
household furniture, land from the will of James Witherspoon, grandfather, to
Arthur and Mary Burrows children. He died in 1825 in Amite Co., MS. He was
the guardian of three Burrows children on 1 Mar 1825 in Amite Co., MS. Charles
S. Witherspoon, Thomas Meredith, and John H. Corbell are bound to Judge John
Phillips for $16,000 to administer the estate of Drucilla, George and Elisabeth
Burrows. He signed a will on 5 Mar 1825 in Amite Co., MS. It was written January
5, 1818. The children are given slaves and household items outlined from will
of James Witherspoon. The children are in the guardianship of Charles S. Witherspoon,
uncle. He owned land bought 1818 to 1825 in Amite Co., MS. that he purchased
from Gideon Sleeper, James Witherspoon, David Nelson and Richard Spears. He
was the father of other possible recorded children. in Amite Co., MS. Authur

Mary Story WITHERSPOON was born in 1791 in
MS.(133) She owned slaves on 15 Jan
1818 in Amite Co., MS. James Witherspoon to the children of Arthur Burrows and
wife, Mary. Eleven Slaves are given; Derry, Sam, Jack, Gibby (male), Lindy,
Betty, Lucy, Hannah, Chaney, Big Fanny, Little Fanny and female baby Chizzey.
They also gave 18 head of cattle marked with crop and splits in one ear and
the figure seven in the other; a chestnut sorrel gelding; a bay mare; kitchen
and household furniture and farming utensils. She died before 1825 in Amite
Co., MS. She was in Amite by 30 Oct 1816. Her mother, Esther Witherspoon is
appointed guardian of the three children in the Orphans Court Record for Amite
Co, MS. Page 368 Mary W. Burrows was given a Negro named January by George
W. Reese of --------dleton District, SC on October 30, 1816. Mary S. Reese was
