TENTH GENERATION

968. Thomas GREEN was born about 1640 in Bristol, England.(364) He emigrated on 11 May 1686 from Philadelphia, PA.(365) Emigrated from Bristol, England, on the ship, "Delaware", which arrived in Philadelphia, PA on the 11th of the 5th month, 1686. With him came Margaret, his wife, his sons Thomas and John, and a daughter Mary with her husband, Richard Moore, and Mary Gurest his servant for seven years to come from the third day of May 1686, and Sarah Searle his servant for seven years to come from the third day of May 1686, and Sarah Searle his servant for four years to come from 3d of May 1686.

The Court records show that Thomas Green purchased 200 acres of land in Concord Township, Chester (now Delaware) County, in 1689 and 100 more in 1691, from the attorney of Dennis Rockford, to whom 400 acres had been located in that township. A memorandum from a forgotten source is as follows and would lead us to believe he was a man well advanced in years at the time of his coming:

"Old Thomas Green bought of Dennis Rockford 400 acres in Concord 8 mo. -6- 1691, and gave 200 acres at the east end to his son Thomas, and 200 acres at the west end to his son John.

John Green made his will, dated 14 Dec 1691, and proved 16 May 1695, in which he gave all his estate to his mother, Margaret Green, whom he appointed his executrix.

Whether any deeds passed from father to sons is unknown none being recorded, but a plot of resurvey of the township, made about 1703, shows the land in possession of Margaret Green at one end and of Thomas Green at the other, with no division line between them. He resided after 12 May 1686 in Concord Twp., Chester Co., PA.(366) He died 7 Sept to 6 Oct,1691 in Concord Twp., Delaware Co., PA.(367) The death of Thomas Green, the father, took place we believe between 8th mo. (Oct.) 6th, 1691 and December 14 same year. There is no will on file, but in 1708 in Margaret Green's will, she refers to a legacy left by her husband to their son Robert. As no evidence has been discovered of the presence of this son in this country, there is some reason to suppose that Thomas Green had left some property in England and this was willed to his son and that the Will was either left or sent there for probate. He was married to Margaret about 1668 in England.(368)

969. Margaret was born about 1640 in England. She died bet Setember and October 1708 in PA.(369) (370) Margaret died between 7 Sep and 6 Oct 1708. Children were:

child i. Mary GREEN was born in England.
child484 ii. Thomas GREEN.
child iii. John GREEN(371) died between 1691 and 1695 in Concord Meeting.(372) He was born in England.(373) Never Married.
child iv. Robert GREEN(132) was born in England. (374) Robert stayed in England and did not come to America with the rest of the family.
