I would like to tell you a little about our fire department. We are a small department located about 16 miles SE of Des Moines, Iowa. We serve a community of 1500 and cover 23 1/2 square miles. We have 8 vehicles and a boat for water rescue.
We are a Fire and Rescue Department.
All of our members are trained "FIRE & EMT'S". We average 120 calls per year.

The Hartford Fire Department

APPARATUS:

- 1991 Chevrolet Kodiak pumper/tanker, 11250 GPM Welch midship. 1250 gallon poly tank with rear quick dump, 427 gas fuel injected, Allison automatic, 2-speed rear axle.

- 1971 International Loadstar 1800 pumpeer/tanker, 750 GPM Welch front mount, 1000 gallon tank with rear and side quick dumps, 345 gas 5 and 2.

- 1978 Chevrolet 65 series tanker 1000 GGPM Welch, 1200 gallon tank, with rear quick dump, 427 gas 5 and 2.

- 1978 Chevrolet step van Squadtruck, 4 person airpack ready, generator, lighting,fans, air bottles, haz mat, etc.

- 1983 Chevrolet K20 4x4 grass attack. Also used for vehicle extrication (Jaws of life, etc.)

- 1951 Jeep CJ2A 4X4 grass attack.

- 1981 Ford E350 modular ambulance.

-1982 Chevrolet K20 4x4 Suburban Chiefs vehicle.

- Flat bottom boat equipped for light waater rescue.

- 1941 International open cab pumper. TThis is our parade truck.

NOTE: The Squad truck and both grass attacks are vehicles that were "custom designed" and built for use on our department, by our department.
