| Greetings from Ft Stewart, GA, home of the 3rd Inf Division.
(received. Fri 1-18-08) Training has been up and down, fast and slow. First was the 18 hour bus ride from Camp Atterbury, IN to Ft Stewart. Beautiful. Next, we were subjected to a little rest, then a smallpox shot and a uranalysis test. Next day, 6 mile road march with protective vest and weapon. Twisted my ankle at the 3 1/2 mile mark and it has not been good ever since. Been very busy in the admin world and soldier training world. I have CQ (Company Quarters) tonight. Then right after I get out of here, on to 3 hours of Iraqi language training. Then I think right after that, combatives training. Not sure if sleep is on the training schedule. We are surrounded by barbed wire and are always wearing our vest, helmet and carry our weapon. We are not allowed to leave the area unless it is for a specific reason. We are isolated from the main base, and are not permitted to go to the main PX. We have a small PX ran out of a trailer witch is not adequate for 3000 soldiers, thusly, the Main post office has been pulverized with care packages at such a rate they have had to hire help. Morale is up and down depending on the time of day and what you are doing. The food has improved, but we are not allowed to order delivery. The weather was nice when we first got here, but now it sucks, but is probably better than Indiana right now. That is it for now SFC Billy Fannin HHC 76th BSTB Task Force Scorpion 845 Hase RD Ste 102 Fort Stewart, GA 31314 |
